Can anyone speak to how popular or useful of a weapon this is?

The mat requirements to make this is painful. I rarely see it in the AH, and I've made only one so far (290+ BS/Armorsmith) at the request of a friend who provided the mats. This is not an item worth making to up skill. Buying the mats in the AH (assuming you have none) is on the order of 70+ gold (depending on server). It's unlikely you'll be able to sell it to recoup cost of mats considering the tons of world drop weapons that are available.

Today I'm going to Tanaris to get the breath of winds. I've found all he the mats on my own from mining and everything. All I need to do is get the leather and potions from the AH. It sure beats using 70g for it.

The materials for making this sword come now were near 70g people think it costs alot due to the large amount of materials however they are rather common materials i would say 20-30g worth of materials maybe 40g if your unlucky, because i know for a fact each of those materials will cost from 1-3g for a stack the mithril may vary though but if your a blacksmith you should have mining so shouldn't be hard to collect

I sell these blades like hot cakes in the AH on Velen server for 25g each

- takes me approx 1 to 2hrs of farming them doing big circle around the ogre camp in Tanaris, i only ever got 2 from Silithius after 3hrs of grinding, i no longer go there for them.

- i get the mith myself, and have a few friend alc's do the transmute so i have the truesilver. I buy only leather & potion from AH or if i'm really desperate truesilver from AH.

Everyone who buys my sword often message me to tell me how much they love the sword. I have had many people contact me asking me if i could make them one. I tell them i'll make them one for 5g if they provide the mats lol they always endup buying mine from AH after the see the mat requirements.

How good this sword actually is? i don't know but looks very sik when u equip it!

Nice weapon not good for hunters only for melee not for ranged

Um, no.
FAR better to get a comparable weapon that gives you buffs to agi or attpwr that helps you ON EVERY SHOT, than to have a weapon that MIGHT debuff a target on one of the rare times you have to melee?

BTW, if you are in melee a lot as a hunter, you aren't doing it right.

If you take your time an look around you can get al the mats cheap or free (breath of wind). I got all the mats for 10- 15g on my server (eonar). I recond i could have got it for under 10g if i had a bit more time to look around. The acution house a booty bay is a good place to get cheap mats i got 27 of the mithril bars there gor 2g60s. The breath of wind is the most expensive mat i would say so it is worth famring it for a couple of hours.

25 Gold? really? Dude.. I sell out of these within 24 hours at 350 gold each. Why? As stated.. Rogues HATE THEM... and B They are one of, if not THE coolest blades on WoW and 3rd.. because of the cost of mats they are a rare find in Ah, normally only a blacksmith has one and only if they made it for themselves. One trick to selling though, keep them a rare find.. make 2 or 3, sell ONE, when it sells, sell another, etc.

Apparently some people don't like the concept of sell at a profit, not at a loss. Fact is, if you are selling an item for 25g that costs 100g in mats to make, that is really nothing to be proud of. Another fact is, they DO sell for 350g, mostly for xmog though. VERY cool if you have a combat rogue (or just use a sword in main hand as a rogue for that one shot hit) to have a 'stealth' (transparent) weapon.
