This quest is kinda bugged. You can pick it up before doing a solo scenario that builds a beachhead for the Alliance. You can't see him and the party until you complete the solo scenario.

To fix it, just drop the quest, go back to the ship and pick up both the solo scenario which will show up as a gold quest, and pick up encroaching force again, which will be a blue quest.

Do the Solo Scenario, nothing special, you have help to burn them down, 4 stages to it. Once that is over you can go to the place on the map for Encroaching Force and you will see him, a mini dinosaur and 4, yes 4, 90 elites, a couple of which stand back and just throw a fire path and an ice path so it keeps you moving.

Take a friend, much easier.

Not too hard to solo.

Pull him back toward the cliff wall, kill his raptor pet first, then kite him in a semi circle around the rock avoiding the stuff on the ground.

i pulled him on top of the cliff where alliance has base. the other 2 adds didint bother me and i just killed him using all buffs

I have never received any Arcane Troves any of the past 5 times I have done this quest. You will receive a Sunreaver's Bounty however.

The first time I did him, I was by the eastern sea coast. I waited for others to help.

It did not seem solo-able on the beach itself.

It was a tough fight.

I took out the raptor first and kited the NPC far way from the middle rocks on the beach

I was far enough away that the other npcs did not follow and their casts did not affect me.

This quest is given by multiple NPCs, and is able to be turned in to each one in turn off of one kill. Nice for getting multiple Arcane Troves, Shan'ze Ritual Stones, etc.

The kill itself is quite tough to get alone, but with a friend and some decent kiting it's not impossible. I killed his healer first, then we kited him around and avoided the lanes of fire and ice on the ground.

I may have gotten lucky but I didn't have a problem with him. I sent my pet into the crowd after the main guy (Nukala?) and then pulled my pet back, the rest of the adds stayed behind by the campfire. So I kited the boss around in a little circle at the end of the beach, the healer was to far away to reach him, the other adds keep throwing out ground aoe in straight lines that were easy to avoid. Took me just a minute or so and he was dead.

I saw this information from another person on wowhead, but I thought this advice was written on here on this particular webpage, so I apologize to whomever I am not mentioning for having given me this information.

If you are on the Horde and you kite Nurkala over to the horde forces they will help you kill him. They are just around the corner. That is how I solo Nurkala. There are wards as well. Those things that look like the towers that would attack in Warcraft 3 when you play as the humans. I hope this helps. I am not sure if it will.

On the Alliance side beach, there is a mana orb that will give you a 1-minute buff which increases your haste and reduces the resource cost of your abilities. There is also a Kirin Tor perimeter ward which does damage to nearby enemies.

Click the mana orb to get the buff, then quickly move to the perimeter ward and charge it up by clicking on it. Pull Nurkala from range and move slightly back down the beach so you outrange the healer. The ward will zap Nurkala as he is nearby, but don't get caught up in keeping him there if you need to get more range from the healer. Watch for the two casters' warning lines - as soon as you see them move a few steps left or right.

Burst down Nurkala using your offensive CDs. Once he's dead, run up the path off the beach near the mana orb. The adds will reset after a short chase.

WARRIORS - Stand on the rock behind him, pull him up there with Heroic Throw or something, then just keep walking backwards while you DPS him down. This should keep him out of the range of his adds, who will heal him if he's in range.

Thanks for the top tips guys, Was rather easy following these tips on here, 1 shotted his pet with Aimed Shot, kited him over top of the rock, and wham bam, all over pretty quickly.

First time i have used wowhead to check on a quest/mob and have to say will be first of many i expect!

Yet another interesting quest that makes clear the difference between MDPS Plate vs. MDPS Leather vs. RDPS. It goes almost without saying that everyone is right about kiting him up from the rock.

The pet will surprise you because you can kill it in seconds. If you are a plate-wearer, just be careful that the adds don't get too close. Sometimes they will ignore you completely; it's hard to predict. If you are a caster, this is almost too easy to spend your time on. My Uber Afflock spanked him in seconds and had him shining everyone's shoes afterwards. Hunters should have no problems either. Mine declined to fight him because he's ugly. Girls can be like that.

If you are a rogue or a feral, this will be a really tough challenge. He has the armor (or hitpoints or something) and attack power of an elite. Some of your attacks won't work (Skull Bash, for example). Even with potions, Renewal, Lifeblood, Survival Instincts, Barkskin, Berserk, a Sidewinder, Hulk Hogan and a deuce-and-a-half full of band-aids, it will be very close and if your average item level is under 500, good luck because you'll need it. Just assume he will behave pretty much like one of the Kilnmasters on the Isle of Time. Did I mention bringing your asbestos underwear?
