Zoom out max to help spotting troggs coming from the behind. The AoE ability has a 30 sec cooldown and the cannon can take a beating, so gather up some small troggs on you before using it.

You have to stay in the turret to start the next wave. You do all the waves sitting in the same turret.

Idiotic quest. Stuff like this should be strictly optional instead of needed in order to progress to quests where you actually play your character and kept as ONLY a minigame.

I couldn't help but snicker at the emotes your character does while you shoot at the troggs with the cannon (I saw /dance, /cheer, and /flex).

I have a level 47 Paladin, I've tried several times and can not beat the 4th wave of troggs, seems no matter what I try, I've failed. I'd be interested to see if anyone can determine a viable strategy that would would a good percentage of the time. I guess I'm not smart enough to figure it out. Any ideas?

this is how i did it (the second time)...
as others have said...zoom way out
do not use the AOE until you absolutely have to, like near the end of the 3rd wave
then you won't be able to use it again until the 4th because of the cooldown
just keep shooting all the close up ones, maybe waiting until there is a group
i didn't get any damage to my cannon until the end of the 3rd while i was collecting a group to use the AOE on
during the 4th i just kept mashing the 1 button until a bunch had collected near me, then AOE, a few seconds later the wave ended and i had finished with over half the cannon's health

I used my lvl 47 Rogue - Combatant , backed on my view, did more pointing, than aiming when shooting the cannon. Even when the little trogs ganged I kept up spinning and shooting was all I did until the "Big Slow Trogs" ganged up then hit number 2,which got them all. I was kicked off the machine for complete.

I've been trying to complete this quest for 4 hours, and it's impossible. I can survive the first 3 waves no trouble but the 4th is the one I can't get through. I've read all the above comments before ever beginning this quest and nothing helps...This is one of those quests that makes a person want to quit WoW and never play it again...but I'm stubborn so not gonna do that...just want to finish this dang quest...

PRO-TIPS: You do not have to target anyone, or even be pointing directly at them. Fairly close is good enough to do the trick.

Two kinds of gnolls or whatever they are will come at you, little and big. The little guys die in one blast, and the big guys in two blasts.

Do not use the AOE until the fourth wave, when you're almost dead.

I recommend turning in a circle and shooting fairly indiscriminately. Like left key, q if little/qq if big, left key, q/qq, left key, q/qq, etc., until the fourth wave when you'll smack the grand finale button and FINALLY be done with this quest. :)

I got to the third wave and always fail on the fourth wave. Getting me frustrated beyond all recognition. I even do the spin thing and lose in the fourth wave. Then too, whenever I do a rapid cannonball fire I get a message saying the weapon is not ready yet.

Just finished quest 1st try! You need to pick the gun with the hill right behind you. Targets will be coming from front and you won't have to worry about your!

Cntrl-1 is your friend. Don't point and click; just aim in the general direction of the trogs and hit Cntrl-1. It's much faster.

Having the mountain in your rear is a plus. I've done this quest with three different toons (level 45's) and haven't had to use the AoE yet.

I'm not sure what everyone else is doing wrong, but I grabbed one of the turrets that's in the middle (no mountain behind me) and easily beat every wave without even getting hit. Didn't use the AOE at all either.

Just aim at the big guys (no targeting required) and the little fullas will die in the collateral blast. I did this in pretty quick time using one of the turrets out in the open.

Wasn't lookin forward to this one after I failed miserably w/my 1st toon. Chose the middle gun in the open for a little turn about ability for everyone who came this time. As it turned out, I never needed the AOE button at all this time. Just kept hittin the single shot in the general area of all that were comin and they went down easy. Just make sure you turn around a lot during and in between the waves so ya don't get a sneaker from the rear. The big ones take 2 or 3 hits but, just keep pluggin em and when you're in the 4th wave twist around a little more and keep hittin the single shot. It worked for me but, if ya get in trouble near the end....AOE the whole mess of em when they get close enough. All of a sudden you'll get thrown off the gun with a complete. Took about 2 minutes tops! Peace!

Completed this quest after prox 20 min. In my patch, it didn't matter whether you had the mountain to your back or not as they still kept coming from all directions. Best advice is from rosemwelch in PRO-TIPS.

I completed it by firing indiscriminately all around and kept spamming 111111111 to kill as many as I could as soon as I could. Believe me there will be a party at the end in the 4th wave. You have to be quick but I used the AOE with about 7% left. The biggest thing you have to remember, at least in my patch, is that the gnolls cause the damage when they get up close. You don't loose any green stuff by firing the cannon but from the gnolls if allowed to get too close. Fire when you see them. I waited to collect my party when I had no choice as they were coming hot and heavy. Finally used my AOE at about 7% of the green stuff left. You can't wait too long as their combined damage wears down the cannon's green stuff fast. Waiting much past < 7% and you may have waited too long!. Good luck!

Think they nerfed it a bit. On my first toon it took a while, on my next couldn't do it. This time, after getting the general drift from these comments and paying attention, I did w/out much grief. Just have to pay attention. And I did it on the ome w/ the hill behind me. Thx mothrmag!

I did this at least 10 times, failing each time. Finally I heeded the advice of the comments listed here and it was surprisingly easy. I didn't even need to use the AOE. Here is the secret:

1. Zoom all the way out.
2 use the "1" key to fire the cannon with the left hand, while rotating it with the mouse..
3 Don't aim except very generally. One shot should take out several mobs.
4. Keep rotating the cannon and hitting the "1" key rapidly and repeatedly.
5 Only use the AOE if absolutely necessary. Cannon balls will take out nearby mobs.
6 If you are doing it right, by the end of the third wave you should not have had to use the AOE.
7 On the last wave it gets fast and furious. Keep rotating and firing the cannon with the "1" key and if necessary use the AOE ONCE. You won't get time to recharge it a second time.

The first time I tried this I finished the last wave without having to fire the AOE at all.

Appears to have been simplified in WoD - fewer mobs and even the bigger, slower ones can be one-shotted.

Troggish Troubles

Enter a Blam Turret, then survive four waves of trogg attacks.

	Survive first wave (1)
	Survive second wave (1)
	Survive third wave (1)
	Survive final wave (1)

Description

I'll need some time to analyze these samples, as well as a break from this trogg-shooting duty. Go man one of my turrets and take out as many troggs as you can. I'll be here studying.

The turrets have two abilities: a regular shot, as well as an electrical overload, for when too many enemies get close! Heh, heh. Good luck.

Oh, and look out for the big, slow troggs. You probably don't want to let them anywhere near you.
