If you are a Death Knight you should remember Bloodbane as a Quest Giver but of course with him being Scourge, you happily have to fight him!

He is also in Valorous Death Knight armour.

By the way, can anyone tell me what weapon he has got? It looks sweet.

Soloable as a 21/50/00-ish Warlock.

The Gylph of Health Funnel (100% knockback resist on Health Funnel) makes it much, much easier once you reach the 60% mark and that lightning on his weapon starts chaining to you. The damage the lightning does isn't huge, it's just the fact that it dramatically reduces the effectiveness of Health Funnel, and with the spike damage Orbaz can throw out, your minion is likely going to die.

Once you reach 40% Darion Morgraine joins the offensive and helps you kill him.

Doable with a Death Knight tank and a feral druid doing DPS and popping out to heal. Try to keep him on the move, with the tank backing up - he drops an AE slowing effect (50% speed debuff) and also has orbs that shoot lighting (I believe). I would generate enough combo points to keep a 5CP Savage Roar and 5CP Rip on him, then roll HoT's on the tank, then pop back into cat form for another 5CP cycle, rinse and repeat. You'll probably have to Innervate right around the time Morgraine spawns (around 40%, as Generic stated), depending on the damage your tank is taking.

He moves at what seems to be 105% speed, so if you can move faster than that and have ranged abilities (paladins, druids, mages using blink) you can solo him. Just did it as a standard raiding ret build (0/10/61), just using judgement, divine storm, and exorcism. So, if you can't find a group for this guy, and you have about six minutes to burn, you can easily solo this guy provided you can move faster than him.

Soloed this has a holy paladin.

I didn't have the plus movement speed, but I pretty much kited him around the circle. Only thing to watchout for was the Plague Strike which did a fair amount of damage, then at near 50% he starts shooting shadow damage out about 10 yards infront of him. He also does puts out more damage, so I just kept running and kept using exorcism, holy wrath, holy shock and judged. Thankfully at about 30 or 25% Highlord Mograine showed up and rocked him for me.

Soloed as DK. Would have been easier with frost DK, because then icy touch would actually do damage. Just icy touch, blood boil, and death coil, running around the circle with either unholy aura or unholy presence. Mograine will come and beat him for you after a while.

I did this quest with myself (79 frost mage), an 80 hunter, and an 80 holy pally (the pally was in ultimate gear though). None of us died, and I think a health bar dropped below 50% maybe one time.

This quest is a little challenging. The guy hits hard and I'm pretty sure frost mages will have trouble kiting him, so a good tank is necessary.

ALL party members must either have the quest in their log or have already completed the quest to see Orbaz.

Just solo'ed this as a Holy Paladin (51-0-20). Took me well about 20min to get ~450k hp down with Judgement, Holy Shock and Exorcism only. Kited him around the edge of the place there so you avoid getting hit by 2 abilities. Around 50-60% he'll do what looked like Warlocks Shadowfury but apart from that its just keep running to avoid getting hit :)

If you're confused about whether or not to go "under" the Ice Crown Citadel, remember, don't go down that huge tube to the very bottom.
He's down underneath on the "base" bottom level on the right side of the map.

this dude fled the battle at light's hope chapel when he saw that the scourge was loosing, and he got promoted!

the minions of the scourge that remained and kept fighting out of sheer loyalty to their master, got betrayed and abandoned?

Fairly easy solo for a well geared DK. Keep diseases running, stay in frost presence, and keep death striking and using your defensive cooldowns. Should be easy to outheal his damage. He casts "empower rune weapon" or something at 50% which increases his damage significantly. At this point he did slowly start getting my health down, I already used AotD and raise dead earlier though, had I known he got more powerful I'd have saved them for it and it would have been a lot easier.

When you get him to around 25% an NPC arrives and helps you, you just need to survive until then.

A 15% move speed increase is enough to never get melee'd by him if you strafe-kite around the pit. You'll occasionally get hit for 800 by a spell he casts, but he should die before you even get low if you have any sort of instant ranged attack.

Solo'd as a level 80 Dwarf Holy Paladin. Took me 17 minutes kiting him and holy shocking + auto-attacking.

Tips: Keep sacred shield up on yourself, use seal of vengeance / seal of blood as a first till you run out of mana, then switch for seal of wisdom till you regain and keep hitting on vengeance.

Heal yourself of course :)

Shadow resistance aura helps!

Few things I've noticed while dying repeatedly as an 80 holy paladin with lower end raid gear:

1. He occasionally stops moving to summon a shadowbolt type spell. This seems to do 800 damage repeatedly. Running away from it helps. It moves rather slowly and does stack if he summons more of them. Therefore, move when you see him use one.

2. He sometimes combines this with an unholy ground effect which slows your exit from the bolts of shadow and increases attack power. (Seems to be triggered by plague strike though oddly enough he doesn't always use a plague strike or it misses and causes this).

3. He only seems to use plague strike which hits plate for about 2k shadow and puts on a disease.

4. His physical attacks do just under 2k.

I'll update after I get him below 300k and see if he changes much.

EDIT: After getting him down to 250k, he seems to charge his runeblade with shadow. This seems to reset his rotation and make him easier for a brief period. His 2k physical attacks get another 1k shadow damage tacked on, and I could swear his plague strike did more damage afterwards as well.

EDIT 2: The Ebon Blade Reapers can go @#$% themselves. They don't take damage from his aoes and will not come to your aid.

EDIT 3: He starts to use Death and Decay + Unholy ground combo... -_-

EDIT 4: If you give up on soloing it, it becomes very easy with two people. As long as you watch out for the shadow bolts, cure the diseases, and keep your health up you'll end up seeing Darion at around 100k. Great dialogue. Crappy quest rewards.

EDIT 5: The shadow enhancement he adds to his weapon at half health is also does aoe shadow damage.

EDIT 6: This post was originally written when Naxx 10 could still be considered low end raid gear. The fight should be much easier now for most people.

On a final note if you ever spam general in Icecrown asking for help killing him... I'll pretty much drop anything just for a chance to brutally slaughter him again... >.>

Soloed as a hunter dunno gear requirements.. Kited the basted round and round the hole until 100k hp then Mograine (didn't look who it was but think it was him) spawned or he was there from the beginning which i don't think because didn't see him on the other lapses.. Well he's easy too kite just run shoot shoot and get your pet on him.

This worked until The 1337 Dk spawned (Mograine) He aggroed at him and dealt huge damage until Orbaz went evade mode and ran away..

Thought i pulled him again and Mograine still stood where he spawned (thats why i wonder if he was there from the beginning). Mograine charged him and together we pwnd Orbaz in only a few seconds with another one spawning at his ass so i think u have to get him down too 100k hp before mograine (the unknown dk xD) spawns

The kite was easy with instants shoots and some mixture between aspects for mana, speed bonus and more damage. Did this as a BM Hunter.
(He spawns at some point at the hole u will see him when u run aroundxD)

Soloed as an aff/demo lock. Just tank and spank with Felguard (or voidwalker as deep aff I suppose) and keep health funnel up at all times except to throw a couple of dots on him as quickly as possible. He does hit very hard at times and if he gets a few crits in a row while health funnel isn't up your pet can die very quickly. Probably not worth trying to reposition your pet when he desecrates.... I managed to heal through it easily enough.

I was soloing this quest on my blood dk and was doing pretty well, but I managed to die at about 30%, and Darion had just started helping out.

I flew back on the as fast as I could but when I got back, they weren't fighting anymore, but I saw that Darion was still there so I pull Orbaz over to Darion and they started fighting. Then, another Darion joined in, they finished him off in about 5 seconds.

One truly epic bug.

Soloed him as a Ret Paladin. Here's how:

1. Use Seal of Righteousness, Shadow Resistance Aura, Blessing of Might, Righteous Fury. With Pursuit of Justice 2/2, you'll run slightly faster than he does.

2. Kite him in a circle around the pit by strafing sideways, which will let you hit him with instants. DO NOT LET HIM TOUCH YOU! If he snares you, HoF or bubble and get away.

3. Keep hitting him with Judgement of Wisdom, Exorcism, Hand of Reckoning, Holy Wrath. Be sure to space them out so he doesn't de-aggro you during the kiting. Spam Hammer of Wrath when he goes below 20%.

4. Use Art of War Flash Heals if you need health.

5. This will take you at least 10 minutes, but you'll get him down if you're patient. Helps if you're an engineer for the Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket and Nitro Boosts.

Tryed to solo as a retadin but somehow it just dint work he would slowly but surely catch up to me eventualy wich of course meant certain death, so i switched to prot took 2 atemts to figure out waht needed to be done but its very much soloable as prot but u still have to kite in order to avoid the aoe's he sumons, rest is the usual tactic:
Keep shields up(HS,SS) JoL, SoV, if u having mana prbs switch a bit to SoW to get ur mana up, best if its not too dificult for u is to weave the seals to keep SoV stacked up, just rember to keep backing up and CLEANSE the debuff very important.

Soloed this guy quite easily fire mage. I assume arcane should be able to do it too, frost however most likely can't.

What I did was run around the big pit while keeping living bomb up, fire blasting him whenever it was ready (for damage and keeping him from evading). You should blink when he gets too close and starts casting the shadow thingy on you.

You pretty much need the Tuskarr's Vitality enchant for this and if your gear is not so good, investing in a Glyph of Mana Gem is probably a good idea. I only had to use 3 mana gems and a mana potion before he died, but if you run out of mana you can pop Mirror Image and channel Evocation until the images die.

Wierdest thing just happened, I tried to Solo him as a Prot Pally, im in ilvl 200+ gear. got him to 35% and I died, wasnt doing a good job kiting him. came back as a Holy in equivent gear. about 15 sec into the fight, Darion showed up and started to mess him up. he was only at 95% HP at that point. then almost immediately a second Darion showed up and they both whooped on him. I got the credit for it. yay. must have gotten bugged.

I managed to kill him as a blood tank dk, quite easy, also Mograine has a nice discussion along the way, but as you said he does very little to help you.

Solo'ed as an enhancement shaman. Was definitely not easy. I was in mostly i226 with a couple i245 pieces.

After many unsuccessful attempts over several months, this was the strategy that ended up working: ate a Mega Mammoth Meal, drank an Indestructible Potion, Elixir of Mighty Defense, and used all the runes from the vrykul bone hand-in quest (except the mana one).

(I realized just now that I forgot to use both sets of drums I was carrying. The stam runescroll would have been helpful, too.)

Engage, drop totems (stoneskin, fire elemental, poison cleanse -- for Orbaz's plague strike, windfury), pop wolves, pop heroism, after a few seconds used the Draenei racial because the wolves weren't enough on their own. Maybe 10 seconds later I hit rage. After the racial wore off, I had to spend every maelstrom 5-stack barely surviving to hit healing wave. I didn't move out of range of my elemental, but the speed rune helped keep me out of the AoE and away from the lightning storm cloud.

Like others noted, when Mograine showed up, he didn't do much of anything for a while. Right when Orbaz (along with myself) were down to about 2%, Mograine ran up, took a swing, and it was over. It got very close several times.

After trying for so long, this is probably the coolest thing I've been able to pull off with my shaman. Fight time was one minute 31 seconds.

This is mind-numbingly easy as an 80 affliction warlock. Grab one of those run-speed runes from the bone lady and this is not even a challenge. I opened with a shadowbolt + haunt and kept corruption and curse of agony up as I kited him around the middle circle. Whenever I got enough distance, I reapplied Haunt and/or unstable affliction. I also recommend bringing your voidwalker + soul link if you have it, as I had to sacrifice once or twice due to lag/bad timing. Took me around 5 minutes in ~226 ilvl gear.

I'm also using the Tuskarr boot enchant, but I don't think that made any serious difference as I was constantly getting so far ahead of him with the rune that I was out of range.

I 3 manned him DK mage(me) and a druid who could only see me for some reason (He wasnt on the quest) The DK tanked without heals in Blood presence. When he died Orbatz was at about 50%. I took him with epic heals from the druid ( Who could, again, only see me) until Mr. DK got back and we all killed him. :) Tough as hell tho.

This was extremely frustrating to solo as a demo lock in good gear. I had to kite him around the huge hole in the ground until he died, and i went SLOWLY. There may have been some things I missed because I didnt notice Darian there until after I had already had him dead, but who knows.

For those wondering why Orbaz stayed with the scourge instead of joining the Knights of the Ebon Blade, here is why.

The answer lies in one of the final quest a Death Knight must complete to leave the Plaguelands: The Scarlet Enclave. It is the battle of Light's Hope Chapel. After the Knights of Acherus surrender, Arthas comes out and steals the soul of Darion Mogriane's father. Then if you are watching the chat log you see in orange letters, "Orbaz Bloodbane Flees". Since he fled, he never figured out that the Lich King had betrayed them, was not there for the creation of the Knighs of the Ebon Blade, and so was never freed from Arthas' grasp and remained part of the scourge.

Soloable as warlock in any spec.

Get your voidwalker out and send him on Bloodbane. Prepare for a long fight, keep curse of weakness up and health funnel the pet so he doesn't die. Do not dps the boss at all. Keep doing this for a long time until your pet got loads of threat. Then you can start dpsing and if you would get close to taking aggro just soulshatter.

While I was doing this a horde came to help me. I rewarded him with the death. :)

Hard, but it's possible to solo as a blood dk.
I died just when Mograine appeared but i assume it's possible for a more healing-heavy blood dk to finish the fight alive.

Bloodworms are of no use here, they will die almost instantly from the lightning. This meant i had to rely on death strike only. I found out later i completely forgot about mark of blood (seeing as i never, ever use it).

Keep a solid rotation. I built some RP and activated my death runes by killing some of the death knights around the field then started the fight with (trinket AP boost) and (or AP boost) and DRW. Applied diseases, heart strike x6, rune dump, death strike whenever i could use it.

Like i said, i died right when Mograine appeared which means i lasted the fight just by using death strikes to heal. There were plenty of other options i could have used though (mark of blood and death pact). If you're a death knight with vampiric blood/rune tap; it's going to be a lot easier for you!

Killed him today by simply kiting him around the big hole. PVE Geared and specced survival hunter, i just ran with aspect of the cheetah all the time, and it wasnt even near hard cause of the runspeed :)

Soloed as a prot warr with average ilevel gear 233 40.5 k hp.Had 11 k hp when Darion appeared had 2.5 k hp when he was killed.Used only a Dragonfin Filet.Having a Healing Potion could also help.

At first charge use Disarm and after it wears of use Shield block and ofc use it whenever its up. Make sure you kite him continuously so you get as less damaged from his shadowolts as possible. His shadowbolts are small shadow orbs hovering a bit higher than you that deal 670 shadow damage every second as long as you are below them. At 250 k hp he will cast empowered runeblade which causes him to hit u for 4 k damage use Shield wall at that time and after that last stand+enraged regenaration.After that use Disarm and exactly the moment disarm fades use shield block. You should be able to drop him to like 20% or 25 where Darion will come and help you.

If what people above said is true you should still get the kill if Darion kills him so you practicaly have to down him to 100k HP to get credit for quest.

Good luck with the quest and give feedback if a tip above didnt work :).

Easily soloable by a mage if you have a runspeed increase (I had the feet enchant). Just keep running, he'll get closer but blink should be off CD before he can hit you every time. Just keep kiting him. Use your mirror images if you're in trouble, or need to stand still for some reason (e.g. to evocate)

I find it funny how for the Death Knight quest chain, where he complains about Thassarian giving a crap about Koltira when he's captured because he's "weak." But Orbaz flees after the Light's Hope Chapel battle. :P

Pretty easy for a Mage. Tried with Arcane, but he has too many hit points to stand and blast him effectively. You could Arcane Barrage every now and again while kiting, but that's kind of a pain.

On the other hand, with Fire, you can kite him around the hole in the ground pretty effectively - even without the rune from the Bone Witch. Start Fireballing, when he closes the gap, pop Mirror Image and nuke until they're gone. At that point, start kiting and just keep refreshing Living Bomb and blinking away. If you can get any Hot Streak Procs, all the better. If Mirror Image comes up before he's dead, use it again and just burn him down.

Easy peasy.

when I just finished the dk starting zone,I noticed an emote Orbaz Bloodbane retreats or something like that. after doing all those quests with the warchief and stuff i went back to the ebon hold an didnt see him anywhere. from that point, i knew that there was going to be something about this guy later on

Skip foward about 18 lvls and I got the quest to kill him, went on wowhead for a second to see if it was the same guy, and found that my predictions were right.

So ..... where in the name of the Titans is he? I've been flapping around the citadel for ages and can find neither him nor the pit he's supposed to be standing on. Is he actually inside Icecrown Citadel, in the dungeon? That seems to be where the quest marker is positioned, but it doesn't say anything anywhere about it being a dungeon quest.
