In combat he casts Immolate, Demon Armor, and Hex of Ravenclaw. Therefore, Bethor's Potion is necessary to stop him from weakening you and strengthening himself.

This NPC's name is likely a nod to voice actor Thurl Ravenscroft, best known as the voice of Tony the Tiger and the singer of "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch".

Interesting thing happened when I did him on a 19 frost mage.

1. Sheep Thule. The Rot Hide standing behind him doesn't activate but the imp does.

2. Fireball down the imp. Rot Hide still doesn't activate.

3. Fireball Thule. Rot Hide activates. Arcane Explosion time!

So yeah, I was able to solo him fairly easily, but I just found it interesting that (as of now) sheeping Thule only triggers the imp.

Thule Ravenclaw was a young mage with great promise in the years before the Third War. He was once best friends with Bethor Iceshard and was also good friends with Gunther Arcanus; Bethor and Thule wove their apprentice's wands together as a symbol of their friendship. But their friendship was sundered when Ravenclaw willingly sold his soul to the Lich King.

After the Scourge of Lordaeron, Thule Ravenclaw along with legions of Rot Hide Gnolls set up in Fenris Keep, the fortress on the island at the center of Lordamere Lake.

"Those filthy mutts forced me out of Fenris Keep, I won't be forced out of my camp as well!" -Thule Ravenclaw when approached by adventurers after the Cataclysm.

Evicted from Fenris Keep by Hillsbrad Worgen and other survivors, Ravenclaw has not set up camp on the northeast side of the Forsaken Front in Silverpine. He is flanked by two Hand of Ravenclaw, presumably summoned by the warlock himself or survivors from the Fenris Isle assault.

If you are in "The Forsaken Front" point of interest, he phases out, you have to back up to silverpine to make him phase back in, at least depending on where you are at in the quest chain.

thule ravenclaw appears as a rare spawn in a small encampment in the area of the forsaken front in silverpine forest. he appears with 2 scourge minions which all 3 attack you if you get to close or attack him. also note that at the time of my encounter with him he would phase out and respawn at the camp and then come after me again ( I assume this is related toe the issues everyone is having with the game since release of WOD, but there have also been a few small bennies like rare spawns being not so rare in low level zones, killed this one rare bat spawn like 8 times in 10 minutes and a female ghost rare same thing but once there were actually 2 of the female ghost rares ( so I killed them both :D.
