Blizzard is getting uncharacteristically inflexible and defensive here. The guild experience and guild rep systems need work, and they're presenting ridiculous counter-arguments to justify not doing that work.
Would it not just be easier if they just increased the cap or the rate at which you gain reputation.The system in theory is a good one. I just feel it is too punishing at the moment and if people wish to change guild (which Im sure many will want to or need to at some point) then why should it take 2-3 months to get back to where they were? Even if it were reduced to roughly a month of grind time, it would be an improvement.Also what happens if people accidentally leave the guild or just leave and then change their mind? Will Blizzard be able to resolve this in a similar way to after being hacked?

Will Blizzard be able to resolve this in a similar way to after being hacked?This actually isn't as bad of a problem, if you leave/get kicked as long as you don't join another guild and just rejoin the one you were in you don't lose your rep.
I just wish they would give a bit more rep I have done every single quest in the cata zones exept a very very few in vash and I am only half way through friendly.
Here's my problem with the whole guild rep thing...not all the rewards are guild only. Blizz is doing the all-too-typical my way or the highway routine, basing their methods on a single point of view, while ignoring all others. This is particularly messed up in this case considering they could easily fix it...they just don't want to.I can't make the cooking only feasts for PUG raiding or heroics until I'm at a certain rep level with a guild? I can't buy heirlooms to level my alts faster, who may or may not be guilded at all, without certain rep in a guild?We're not talking about aesthetics, or even things that have much to do with guilds at all. This is functionality stuff, some of which we had in the previous xpac without the guild rep nonsense. Now, if they added some more things that were actually relevant to guilds, and guilds only, then that would make sense. But that would require unique, new development, and I'm realizing that we're not likely to see much of that while WoW is still on top.
blizz can justify it any way they want , guild rep is crap , broken , useless , insert 4 letter word here. i have 17 players in my guild , only one or two at a time are on when i'm on , which is constantly . have i moved up in rep ? hell no . has the guild moved up in rep? half way across the bar in a month ! big whoopee .its turned in to the joke lol barad has . some of us can't have a 200 member guild blizz ! there should be some % adjustment or something. and so what if some one exploits some thing you do. wtf do you care ,you get our dam money every month either way. whats it to you ?
I am currently 2274/21000 into revered and have no problem with the current guild system our guild is also at 84% into level 11 so we should hit 12 tommorow, we have not even started raiding yet, as a guild, we are slowly getting into heroics. All of this with aprox 18 people on a day. so big guild little it does not matter it can be done.
Agreed. It is a GUILD rep. This is not something you are supposed to build up solo. Your supposed to group up as a guild and do heroics, raids, cheevs and the like. If you could do it on your own, what would be the point?
I would like to see the rep earn a little faster. I feel a lot of hate towards the humans in our guild because they're way ahead of the rest of us. I understand that humans are the classic diplomats of the sci-fi/fantasy genre, but I do not like that they earn their guild rep that much faster than anyone else in that guild. It's not an NPC based reputation essentially. And the fact that they're earning it faster makes the non-humans hate them, shouldn't that give them a negative to their reputation? HA, kidding. But the essence of their faster rep gain is that people like them. :P to humans!Definitely do not like how slowly a low level gains their rep though. I agree with other posters on that, 1 rep at a time is unreasonable. If I'm doing that many quests, gaining skills, farming mats on the way up, all the things you do while leveling anyways, you should earn (maybe not AS fast) more rep than you currently do. Low level characters are progressing at least rather than grinding, like my 85s. There should be some kind of compensation for that. Grinding with an 85 becomes tedious a lot faster than progressing through levels.I'm in a small guild we have exactly 7 unique players and their alts as our base and we're fairly advanced in level I would consider for that small of a guild. I think we're level 8. Sometimes we don't earn our daily XP cap but i noticed that when we reach a former day's cap that it rolls up into the current day's cap. So if you're behind you CAN catch up if you try. Most of our actual guild XP is earned by running heroics as a 4 or 5 guild member group and it seems fairly easy to reach cap even if you're not on for very long every day.
Something I haven't seen discussed is rewarding guild rep for recruiting new members. It seems Blizz wants to encourage mega-guilds - why not reward bringing new members into the guild?
i like it the way it is. you actually have to be a guild member to get stuff. i mean, people come and go, but some cores are forever.if you think a guild is good for you, it doesn't matter if you have to raid for 3 months to get exalted. because it will be worth it. the current system makes guilds look more like families, where you have to commit and live with. i dont get why people want to get everything "right now". people linking rare items on chat expecting jealousy, when it's actually something that can come to anyone else who goes there and has the same opportunity. i completely agree with everything the blue post says. if you want to get things yourself, there's single player rpg's. my play style is very different from when i started five years ago, for example. to me, it looks like blizzard is growing up, and expecting the players to do the same.but this is just my point of view. really. just showing it to people who agree. losers gonna lose, haters gonna hate. call me a blizz w*ore if you want but i think most things they do is really reasonable. i'm also sorry about any english mistakes, past and future XD

At least have raid bosses be a couple hundred guild rep so that I don't have to still do 60 daily quests per week after clearing all the 25 man raids.I figure if I clear all the raid bosses I should at least be done for the week on guild rep farming.
I like the system the way it is for the most part although I think having guild levels, xp and rep is somewhat redundant. Guild rep is a little slow compared to most other rep grinds but I think people are a little spoiled from WotLK once again because rep was generally easy to gain especially toward the end of the expansion. Grinding rep in Vanilla and TBC took quite a long time. You had to be persistent and work fairly hard to get to exalted which is what I expect Blizz wants out of the current guild structure. Everyone seems to have this impatient, "I want it NOW" mentality. It's not even a month and a half into the expansion and everyone just wants it all, right now. Have patience. Explore the content. Participate with you guild. Do this consistently and I'm sure most people who aren't guild hopping or lazy will be exalted with your guild soon enough.

The best way to get guild rep right now is dailies, but what does that have to do with your guild? Increase rep gain for guild dungeons, battlegrounds and raids and lower it for everything else.
My only complaint about the Guild System is it is entirely designed for PvE guilds. What about all of us PvP guilds? Ranked battlegrounds are not NEARLY enough, and some of us would like the benefits too. XP is not a problem, but Guild Rep definitivily is.
I don't understand why people are thinking that this is too hard, I'm well on my way to being exalted with my guild and it's at level 12, all I do is daillies for rep, the guild organises hc runs a couple of evenings a week, we craft what we need and have done just one new raid run so far. The guild perks didn't exist before cata so why do people suddenly feel the need to have them all in a couple of months? Being too easy spoils games in the long run.

I'm in a small guild with five other regular players, from new to experienced, so with characters at all levels. It's taken a month to get to guild level two, and it was a real buzz! :) Since we all started new characters at Cataclysm, we'll no doubt take a little less time to progress to other levels but, really, what is the hurry? It'll be two years until path 5 anyway? Where would be the value in one-man guilds being able to grind to the top by level 40? It's not as if the guild rewards make or break any other part of the game. It's all fine, Blizzard - leave it as it is.
I don't understand people's rush... my mains somewhere in the midst of honoured with our guild. I've still got half of Hyjal, a little of Twilight Highlands and practically all of Uldum to do quest wise in cata, done about 3 days worth of dailies for Therazane and a couple of days worth at Tol Barad. Other than that it's been cooking/fishing dailies and archaeology. The expansion's intended to last a couple of years, we're not even 3 months into it. Everything will come in time, why does the stuff need to be now?Anyone serious about raiding should have their own buff food, we didn't always have feasts. Cooking is laughably easy to level now (it wasn't ever hard tbh).The pet rep requirement is being reduced to revered next patch, but even if it wasn't.... it's a pet does it really matter if you have to wait?Guild heirlooms are nice, but what about the ones for 1-80 that are still there and offer double the boosted xp per item. 80-85 is easy enough anyhow, the most bonus you'd get is 10% from the two guild ones, and then you'd need a level 20 guild for the second item I believe, level 10 for the first.Perhaps a little faster would be nice, but honestly, it's really no big deal. Letting GM set the rep would be a bad move and making it in any way possible for people to buy the rewards would just be pointless.

Increase rep gain for guild dungeons, battlegrounds and raids and lower it for everything else.Well said the problem in my mind isn't the speed but the fact that someone just doing dailys can cap out each week were as some who raids and dungeons with there guild will still have to do dailys to cap there rep. It actually suits my play style to have it the way it is now but I think its a silly way to have guild rep. I'm in a raiding guild but I'm there as a social person. At most once the expansion is progressed further I will go on the alt runs in guild for raiding. I've done a few heroics with guild and its a better experience than pugging it but guild rep doesn't really encourage you to.
