LvL 64 prot pali I got a group for scholo 2 FULL clears nothing
I solo farmed all the UD mobs and a few respawns form SCSrat entrance to the chapel in UDStrat and.....Nothing...not a damn thing.
I farmed the elites in herthglen, the elites in the Tyr's Hand Church...nein
I farmed the demons in winterspring...SURVEY SAYS! XXX
I TRIED the felguard elite...oddly I Can easily solo a equal lvl and sometimes 1 lvl hight outland eilite but this guy....6 lvls LOWER then me.....oooh sorry the correct anwser is what is you fail
I farm ther Big Fat Ogre for that BL quest....yeah how about no.

It's good to see how much foresight blizzard has in their own game. GG putting making a world drop witha really bad drop rate a quest item. I'd probally have more luck farming barons mount then this pain in the ass...at least I know what mob will drop that.

I only really remember seeing these drop in Naxx and ZG...soo um yeah.

i remember one of my guild mates got it from an elite in Wp.
So he gave it to me for exchange of icy enchant.

This item drop rate is ridiculous. I did several runs in top level pre-bc instances and didn't got any kind of drop. Considering it's needed for a bunch of class quests, specially for level 60 mounts, I think blizzard should make it more accesible for casual players who need their mount, specially since the upcoming expancion.

However, I understand that this should be a rare drop, so maybe blizzard should change the item, or make a new one that is specially for these quest lines.

P.D: I play in a new realm, so there is no one selling it.

Well. Not to be a downer on this low drop rate parade. But these things can't stop dropping for me in Tyr's Hand.....did anyone ever consider going to the radical paladin psycho's for the epic mount regent for paladins? Makes sense to me in a cosmic way. But in the 10 minutes I was out in Tyr's hand goofing off I had 7 drop for me. Happy hunting. If I was just lucky....sorry just trying to help :)

I decided to farm Shen'dalar Exalted so I will be needing 84 of these for my libram quest turn-in, but I only got 8 so far (they sold for 5g each on AH) but since I bought all I am wondering the best place to farm these? Doesn't matter if it's solo, group or raid places

the droprate is pretty bad everywhere, after months of farming I can assuredly say that there is no "good" spot to farm them
just run the instances you have to run anyway to get the other stuff to turn the librams in, or get them, speak: dm north, strat & scholo
hope some drop for you, and try to get the rest on your auction house to get your insane title
the prices sure are insane, 200-300g on my server, got lucky and caught one with low bid-price and snagged it for 3g, but that was a one time lucky shot

if you REALLY want to farm them, just farm them in whichever place is more comfortable to you, the droprates don't differ all that much, and a change of location every once in a while can really lighten up the farming mood quite a bit

I'm about 1/4 done with my DM North farming and have gotten 0 so far. I could just be unlucky but I've done Strat mount runs in the past too numerous times and only gotten 1 which I then used for my pally mount quest. I've been buying out all of them on the rare occasion when I see one on the AH, prices vary between under 10g to 100g on my server and I see maybe 1-3 per week. If you're on the Insane achievement, I don't think money should be a concern for you. So buy them all and save yourself a lot of trouble!

My farming goes in the order of DM North -> Strat/Scholo (for Libram) -> Tyre's hand/LBRS (for junkboxes). You may want to kill the pickpocket mobs rather than just stealth through so you can get more chance of a diamond drop. Then you can farm Strat again and hope you get a mount. If you still don't have enough at the end of all this, I think you'll have more luck spamming trade and hoping someone old school has a bank alt somewhere with 10 stashed away than to farm them yourself.

At the end of all my insane runs, my own looted diamonds = 6

Very frustrating to find on low pop servers. These things are rarely if at all on the AH. Need 15 more to finish faction but haven't seen one in awhile.

I completed DM North runs for Steemwheedle reputation and I hit exalted few days ago, never counted exactly how many DM runs I have done. I had my friend helping me and so we AOE'd most of ogre groups to get key if they didnt drop from the guards (which was rather common case and even after killing nearly every mob - no key). We completed roughly anywhere between 100-200 runs of DM North and I only got 5 Pristine Black Diamonds and only around 20+ Librams.

Since everyone now seems to go for the insane achievement (man of which I dont think realise what it actually take and I hope they will give up soon) there are no diamonds or librams on AH. The problem is that they cannot be effectively farmed from what I observed, I think I will just have to ready myself for another few hundred DM runs for more librams and will combine that with Baron Startholme mount runs for more variety in trying to obtain more diamonds as well.

with the beginning of 3.1 they were about 10g in our AH because some farmer grinded these little beauties like mad
i bought ALMOST enough for my insane
now i'm nearly at the end and i realised i'm about 8 short so i looked in the AH again.. just to see only 2 of them for like 50-60g because i'm no longer the only who gets insane
so i'm playing jerk by putting one of my last stones without buyout in the AH and cancel the auction short before it runs out and got a lot of bids

I was solo stratholme just for fun yesterday, and I got a drop of pristine black diamond. I didn´t know how much it was worth, so I put on AH for 1200g - and this morning it was sold! Nice

I have done about 100 baron runs in Stratholme and never had any PBD's drop, few days back I did a full clear of Scholomance and I had 4 drops in one run, so i'll be farming Scholomance for the PBD's, will edit later if i get more pbd's when doing a full clear

I'm working on Insane (on my pally alt called Immune), and they go for about 200g on my server. This will be one expensive title.

Still, AH is a lot faster than farming.

Now when you can have a char of opposite faction it gets alot easier to get these, just get over some money through Neutral AH and you can get Diamonds from both sides.
Edit: I Just noticed that you can't bid on your own auctions, but this is pretty easy to do anyway, just get a friend to help you, or use another account.

My personal experience with those:

I'm atm halfway thru exalted with the cartel (10530/21000) and i have found 3 PBD all this time in DM north. I usually clear all the ogre part (for a chance to get a 2nd key for the next run).

I have ran strat about 15 times and i had one drop from there. I had 8 drops from scholo which I ran a bit more, like 20-25 times so far.

Prices of PBDs on my server are never below 500g each, although before they got wiff that these things got value i managed to buy about 7-8 for 150g each by spamming trade.

I had some PBDs in a bank char from years back (thank god i'm a pack rat) and a guildie found some forgotten stash too, so atm i'm close to revered with the shendralar. Only 42 more diamonds to go :D

Something I always thought about PBDs was that they only drop from elite mobs, so I mostly didn't bother with the normal ones. Big mistake, I just had a PBD drop from a Thuzadin acolyte (the non-elite mobs inside the ziggurats of strat).

I hear and read that these things are unfarmable. If you mean, can I go out and get a stack of 20 in a few hours, then yes these are not farmable. On average these sell for around 300-500g. If you are looking to get your Shendralar rep to exalted you will need at least 82 of them. Doing the math shows that at current prices you will end up spending about 24K gold minimum in order to get these off the Auction House. It's easy enough to make gold nowadays so that may be a viable option for people on high pop realms where Pristine Black Diamonds are relatively common in the AH. But bear in mind you will probably end up spending a lot more than 24K gold and it will still take you some time to acquire them. Even on locked servers you will rarely see more than 20 of these listed at one time, and if you do, chances are they will be grotesquely over-priced.

I have an alternative solution for those with a "Do-it-yourself" mentality that will not only get you the diamonds you need, but make you a lot of extra gold to boot, making your Shendralar grind almost as profitable as the Darkmoon Faire grind is.

It requires you to have a character capable of soloing Zul'Gurub. Your targets will be humanoids and bosses. I found when I was doing ZG runs to get my Zandalar rep up with Bijou's and coins that I would get 1-2 PBD per run. Later, when I needed more diamonds for the Libram turn-ins for Shendralar I decided to go back there and stick to just killing humanoids and bosses since, to my knowledge, they are the only ones cpable of dropping them. I got all the PBD's I needed in a little over 40 runs and also made a killing by selling the bijou's and coins on the AH that I didn't need. The Bijou's sell for roughly 20-25g on my server and the coins for 1-3g per as well. All told, I made close to 20k.

This option is obviously not the best one out there since there are quite a few classes who cannot solo ZG. Even if you cannot solo the boss fights you can probably still handle the trash mobs though. It is definitely worth considering as an alternative to just throwing your gold away buying these of the AH.

Don't underestimate the power of the Trade channel...

Step 1: Firstly, buy all the Pristine Black Diamond's off the Auction House, this is important as the following steps rely on there being none in the Auction House.

Step 2: Advertise on Trade, make your advert attractive instead of something plain like "WTB Pristine Black Diamond" try something along the lines of "Looking to buy Pristine Black Diamond's, they are from level 60 instances, please check if they are collecting dust in your bank/alts and /w me if you have some to sell :)"

Step 3: Now wait ... I kept getting offers up to ten minutes after my advert what with people checking banks etc.

Step 4: Offer the person ~ 50g (or less if you like) for each of them, there will be none in the Auction House for them to check prices (thanks to Step 1) and most people are happy to sell "junk" for 50g a piece.

I got 10 diamonds in the space of 30 minutes and it cost me a total of 500g, I could have tried offering lower but I was more than happy at 50g/diamond. Oh, and if anyone asks you what they are for, my reply is "dunno, my gf just asked me to get some for her" :)

I don't know if the drop rate has changed here recently, but within 3 runs of UD Strat I had accumulated 10 pristine black diamonds off of trash mobs. Might be something to look into.

This may be a good way to get diamonds cheaply, but given your whole method is based around monopolising, misrepresenting and lying in order to get what you want, I will not be doing this.

What you are suggesting is, in fact, called scamming.

Monopolise the market, make sure no-one knows the true value.
Try to buy the items for far less than they are worth, and just hope your sellers are ignorant so you can rip them off.
If someone asks why you want the items, lie.

I've had two PBDs drop from the skeletal guys around Rattlegore in Scholomance, while farming for the Skin of Shadows. I'm not sure if this is a fairly good place to farm or if luck was just slapping me in the face since I bought the last PBDs I needed earlier that morning.

you must be working for blizzard to advice people to spent money for a realm transfer... you can give any wow fanatic 10 or 20 dollar and he will collect all pristine black diamonds for you... at least i would and if i would i believe many would do that

I am curently exalted with ravenholt and steamwheedle.
Sitting at 2525/21000 darkmoon. Shen'dralar sitting at 2500 neutral with all the mats for 33 hand-INS in my bag(16,500+2500=19,000) puts me at 10k honered

For goblin rep do DM north so you can start the grind for librams and PBD's. IMO it's faster goblin rep as I took with me many stacks of rugged leather, in the box the goblin drops after you free him there's usally some tanin, plus I'd run atleast to the tanin basket up the ramp if I'd gotten or seen another key, if not keep going and clear the capt. and remaining ogres if needed to get the next key. Anyways once you get in the grove, you just run in and kill only the 3guards which more offen than not dropped the next key in which case you just run to the goblin and hand in ogre suits then free him loot tanin and run back to loot key, back out the portal to reset, 15min 650 rep if ya do 3 suits+ librams and hopefully some PBD.

PBD are really nasty so I'm going to try some ZG farming like one guy said above and check it out but I suggest to all to keep your eye out in the AH or this grind will go on for ever, I DE'd all the drops and sold them through the AH making thousands , using the cash flow to buy some PBD and herbs for my scribe to bust out decks, which you then sell the trinkets, and yes you do the nobles decks yourself. When you get a buyer from the trade channel tell them you'll go get the trinket for them. I did that for 4 people so far 12000g (nobles decks going for about 3k)

From chant'n mats and trinket sales this ach almost pays for itself. I'm at nearly the exact amount of gold I was at before starting. I have a herbalist, scribe, enchanter, and a rogue so I've been able to solo this entire deal and not pay anyone for anything cept AH purchases. Have fun guys wish me luck I'm on the home stretch!

To all the people that say run ZG for these diamonds I'd like to say that I went from 0/3000 neutral all the way up to 999/1000 exalted with Zandalar and I haven't seen a single one drop and that's with killing every trash pull in the instance. If your working on insanity I recommend visiting the auction house often and making a macro to spam in trade chat when you go to town for the diamonds. You'll get some from having to run Stratholme, Scholomance, and Dire Maul but as is mentioned you'll need about 82 or so diamonds to cap Shen'dralar so there's no danger of you buying more than you'll need (even if you do then you can always sell them back after you've capped Shen'dralar). The prices vary from 10 to a 1000 gold depending on if the person selling actually knows what there used for or not.

You can either mantain a positive karma if you're a Budhist or pray to your god and various saints so you can have a drop or two

Save your time, go farm gold and buy any of these beauties you see in AH.

Personally i have done neither but im just grateful that my luck is so god damn insolent!
I had 7 drops since yesterday with only 15 runs..!

EDIT: Its weird enough to mention that all those PBD drops occured when i had to shorten my runs for time's sake
and i picked off only the guards for keys and specific packs of ogres which were on my path.
Which means max 10 kills on each run. Only one dropped in a full clear.

I currently have 61 of these. I'm trying to gather up 72 since you get the 10% buff to repuation gains during Halloween. My best piece of advice that I can give you is this - do not farm these. The drop chance is so extremely low that there is simply no point. If the price for these is, say, 500 gold on your server, and you can herb/mine/play the AH for 500g per hour, that means you are guaranteed to get 1 diamond per hour of time you invest into the effort. If, however, you try to farm them from instances, the amount of time you spend per diamond goes drastically up, even with all the stuff you can disenchant and sell taken into account.

So, the advice is the same as ever, basically... farm the best money you can and buy what you need. I'd argue that getting the Librams from AH can be harder than getting the diamonds since you can only ever get them from one place while diamonds drop from several, so I'm farming DM until I have all the Librams (halfway there) and buying any diamonds and Librams from AH I see for a reasonable price.

Anyone knows if the drop rate for these has been increased after patch? There are over 100 of them at AH @ 150-200g each. Although not long ago they were selling for 500g per diamond.

This may seem like a ~~dumb~~ VERY odd question but do the diamonds only drop off of elite mobs or should I actually loot all those stupid whelps and non-elite skellies in Strath and Scholo? I've gotten a few so far but when your mass looting piles of bodies you don't pay mind to the top of the screen where it shows the brilliant gold dragon alerting you that it is an elite.

I do know that the ambassadors in ZG that aren't elite do but how bout in the other zones that drop diamonds?

Today while running Dire Maul North, one of these dropped. I was surprised to see that these actually have a vendor price of 50 silver now. Prior to patch 4.0.1, these had no vendor price and you would be unable to sell it to a vendor if you tried. In fact, it didn't even specify "no sell price", the tooltip simply stated "Pristine Black Diamond".

On 17 Stratholme run i've seen 4 of these Diamonds.
Im only clearing the dark side.

Drop.

1 from the Abomination before Rivendare.
1 from the Cadavers at the boss where the Key to the City drops.
1 from the Ghouls.
1 from the Maleki the Pallid. Didnt expect a boss would drop this

These Diamonds selling for 700g on my server, so its a nice money making instance. Sold plenty of Runecloth too, and seen 2x world drops of the Lifestone trinket. Also seen Orb of Deception dropped wich sells for quite alot.

THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER NEEDED FOR INSANE TITLE Shen'dralar faction is being removed in Cata, and the rep is gone from the Insane feat.

If you have any, sell them ASAP because as people find out, they will become worthless.

I expect them to be worth 200 - 300 each for another month. Certainly not the 400 - 650 I have been seeing on Zul'jin over the past year, but still worth a bit. Shen'dralar is being made into a separate feat of strength. And the +10 haste enchant is probably the best BoA helmet (guild level 20) enchant for most casters, especially mages, although no other Dire Maul librams are really that valuable as helmet enchants (for my paladin and DK I'd much rather have the +8 STR and for my rogue the +8 AGI from I think it's the Libram of Voracity).

After December 7, though, the price will most likely nosedive to essentially free, probably little more than vendor trash price. There simply will be virtually no demand. The Dire Maul libram turn-ins for Shen'dralar rep and helmet enchants will disappear. The paladin-exclusive tabard quest has already been removed (was removed in patch 4.0). It appears the only two uses for this item will be a shaman-exclusive quest and a level 60 blue tanking trinket.

I was under the impression that these were taken off of loot tables once Cata launched, but I had one drop just now in BWL from a Blackwing Technician. I know they were given a vendour price, but I was very shocked to see one after all of the Shen'dralar/Insane in the Membrane hubbub.
