Ive decided to either make a warrior or a paladin as they can both tank and dps (and wear plate im bored of leather :-D). But can you help me decide what one out of the two, Once ive got to 70 i want to raid and do heroics what one would be better? (and i want to be alliance if that helps.)
Thank you for your help.

Thanks i think il go warrior as paladins cant duel wield and as a paladin while leveling i may be forced to heal to get into groups.

My paladin has been protection all the while. It's a little rough going at first, but once you get Consecration you'll learn the joys of multitanking. You'll occasionally get requests to heal, but paladin tanks are in demand, too.
I'm curious as to why dual-wield is an issue, though. Perhaps because you were a rogue? It's not really the same deal for warriors. Dual-wield is kinda sexy, but unless you've got the right gear and spec, you spend much of your time missing. That's all kinds of bad for warriors.

Someone needs to do a 'Warrior or Paladin!' FAQ since we see this question asked once a week or more... I'd do it but I've never leveled a pally past 20...
Here's my standard line: despite all the fighting between the two groups,
both
warriors and paladins are viable. You won't be making a permanent, irrevocable mistake if you choose one over the other. Sure, they each have strengths, but you can have fun, play lots and see the whole game playing either.
However, they have radically different playstyles. and there is no way you can ask for opinions over the interweb and correctly predict which playstyle you'll prefer. You'll just have to spend some time with each. I love playing a warrior -- I am in control of my toon, I have lots of instant attacks and debuffs, and I need to micromanage everything. I hate playing a paladin -- it seems like I'm just watching the toon auto-attack while I wait for the
Judgement
cooldown. People who love pallies probably have a totally different reaction.
Nice thing about World of Warcraft: it's easy to take new classes for a test drive. Give 'em each a try, you'll find the one you love.

Paladin! For the love of god don't roll a warrior if you intend to tank. Save yourself some headaches.
This is why someone (not me) should do a 'Warrior vs. Paladin' FAQ -- so we can avoid the pointless trolling posts like this will start. Why not me? Because I feed the trolls:
Paladins are idiot-proof tanks. That means you can group with idiots and still get 'er done. Warriors require the tank and the rest of the group
not
to be idiots. Personally, I hate hanging out with idiots. Therefore, warrior tank for me, please!

For now, that resiliency to idiocy is absolutely necessary. At least for me. I need some way to make up for the vast majority who're playing 70s and who've *somehow* gotten to 70 without ever even *seeing* WoW before, let alone having any idea what a "class" is.
Yeah, I know whatcha mean -- it takes a while, but once you have a nice crew of people you know and trust, you'll never want to run with (or tank for!) another PuG. If I can't get a group going with people on my friends list then I go do something else. No mismatched frankenstein LFG monstrosity for me, please!

I'd go pally. Despite what everyone says pallies can dps very well and bring alot of utility to a group. They're just so much more flexible. Once you have gear for it and try it you might find you like healing. I never thought I would heal or dps when I started my tankadin, and now I have four full sets of gear for prot, holy, ret, and shockadin. Its great being able to do it all.
Plus keep in mind WotLK will be coming in several months. Might look at the upcoming changes to both classes to help in your decision, b/c that will be what your character will be like in the long run.
Well, warriors can DPS with all three specs, paladins to a greater extent "have to" be retribution to do DPS. The healing bit obviously counts the other way ;)

If your server is established, I'd bet good money that tanks are in high demand, therefore it shouldn't be hard to find a group as a prot pally. Thing is, the time where people saw any pally that wasn't holy as stupid and in dire need of a respec has passed, now prot is very viable and sought after, and ret isn't too bad once you can pound it into the group leader's head that you're useful. (mine topped a Mana Tombs run for dps among equal level toons, despite having to take a break to help heal a couple times) You're going to run into a challenge when it comes to boss fights such as the BF end boss, because it's so hard to tank against casters as a pally, but for everything else it should be smooth sailing. Consecration and holy shield spam is the noob's way to 'good' tanking, but I'd suggest looking up the guides posted elsewhere on the site as to how to do it properly.
I can't say anything about warriors, seeing as how my only tank thus far has been a paladin. *shrug*
I'm not sure how to take the "I'm bored of leather" comment, so I'm going to assume you've leveled a druid tank. Which makes me wonder why you don't want to use it, as they're just as good as the other two tanks, and in some cases better.
There is one thing, though: If you hate instance grinding, you're not going to like leveling a tank.
