BM is easier for soloing.
In 10 man raids...or most raids really, BM deals more damage than MM because of serpents switftness, and your pet is a beast too.
All together, to be the best you can be, BM can roll you all the to 70 and end game >_>

Your ranged DPS would still be great. Don't ever look at your DPS rating on your tooltip; that thing is a huge lie. That is you just let your autoshot go.
Throwing in abilities and pet damage, yeah. BM is the better tree for PvE in my mind, but I guess it all comes down to preference and playing style.

BM for PvE and MM for PvP.
BM allows you to take out mobs very quickly and very easily. Serpents swiftness = 20% more att speed
MM in PvP allows you to hit some crazy numbers and you will need high single shot damage cause most of the time your not going to be using auto shot unless you wanna get owned by a mage rushing you. Arcane shot will be one of your best friends along with Con shot

Don't forget that part of the hunter class IS the pet, and as a BM hunter, you utilize that to your fullest advantage. It is a great tree for leveling.
For raiding it is also very good, but the other trees are very much viable as well depending on the needs of the raid.
I PvP with Marks and I love it. BM works well in PvP too though. I just think marks adds more burst damage and a bit if pvp utility while continually moving, where BM relies on more sustained damage and standing still.
