To prevent excessive farming, it's nigh impossible to hit while legitimately running dungeons.
Also dungeon finder negates the 5 dungeon per hour rule entirely, I remember chain running heroics in WoTLK doing 5 - 9min runs and never once hitting the hourly dungeon cap.
You do NOT cap any dungeons that are in your own range level, for example you were lvl 80 when you were doing WoTLK heroics, which is ofc a lvl 80 instance range. However if you do lets say SFK 5 times, you will be locked. In another situation with a lvl 24 or so, the lvl 24 will NOT be locked from SFK as it is in his/her level range.

This is false. An instance is an instance, and it's account wide. 5 per hour, period.

And Dungeon Finder bypasses it.
Not using Dungeon Finder, you can run five (5) instances per hour across your entire account. The only way to bypass this is to use the Dungeon Finder. The only locks that the Dungeon Finder considers are your Heroic locks for the day, and that's only while manually selecting instances.
As Porcell said, an instance is an instance.

If you are doing an instance that is your level with a proper group it generally take you a while to it, there fore, by the time you are done, repair, and head to your second one the time for the first instance is almost up...so you never run into an issue of 5 timers non expired.
You haven't seen any good groups then. At lower levels, things can go really,
really
fast, especially when it's one of the smaller dungeons like Stockade.
"And Dungeon Finder bypasses it. by: Pwntiff"..................This is totally wrong. You can not use dungeon finder for lower level instances, therefor, I refer you to my above statement.
That's odd. I am certain my level 60 alt just got from Blood Furnace through the random dungeon finder. Must have been a dream.
And if you mean a level 85 can't use the RDF for a lower level dungeon... where did
anyone
say you could? Please, do quote.
Pwntiff and Porcell also said: "Not using Dungeon Finder, you can run five (5) instances per hour across your entire account."............This is wrong as well...you can run instances per hour on each toon...not account.
Nop, it's account, not character. Did this exact thing with my druid and DK while farming for the Raven Lord mount. 5 dungeons with my Feral Druid took about 20 minutes. Relogged on my DK, took the trip to the dungeon, and I got the message "You have entered too many instances recently."
The way I farm... I have several level 85's, I run 5 places on one toon switch to another toon and run 5 places....no doubt by the time I get back to the first toon all my timers have dropped.
You took more than 1 hour to complete all 5 then.

You can join on how many lfg runs during an hour you want, but say bye bye to entering a raid instance an hour after.

5 per day makes no sense given the change to LFD so that you can do all 7 of your VP dungeon runs in one day.

Steptaker had the right answer just didn't explain it good enough I suppose.

You sir have no clue what your on about so just do yourself a favour and don't correct people on things you know nothing of.

As for you read the thread, it isn't hard takes a whole 5mins and you will see that 5 per day was shutdown within hours of being posted several times over and that it was clearly stated that LFD negates the instance lockouts.

Is it really possible to do more than 4 dungeons with LFG? Isn't there the Dungeon Finder Cool Down of 15mins (not deserter)? Or maybe it just dissapears if you finnish the dungeon... :)

Yes it is. It requires a special event lfg. like Brewfest or Lord Ahune.

Agreed, but not like it's needed in this case - chances that you'll get 5 times in a row the same dungeon AND the one that you want to farm are almost 0.
It's quite possible to hit the same instance 5 times in a row. E.g. when you just enter where you can run northend dungeons there's only 1 (Utgarde Keep) you can enter. That lasts for I think 2 levels, maybe 3.
If you chainrun dungeons at those levels (I did for a while) you're going to end up doing UK a lot, I got bored of it after 7 runs (or was it 10) non-stop and did some questing instead.
Of course each of those runs, in a level appropriate team, will take you more than 12 minutes (even if requeueing the entire team, which we did) so you'd not run into the 5/hr limit even if it exists for DF).

Even lower, Stockades, is incredibly easy to do +5 dungeons per hour. A full guild group and me did this consequetively, and managed up against 9/hour.
And for random, Hellfire Ramparts is ridiculously easy to do in less than 10 minutes, making it take about 50 minutes to do 5. Managed to get halfway through a 6th run when an hour had passed. Of course, this assumes you don't get to group with a retarded DK, but it
can
be done.

Assuming you can stay up for a full 24 hours playing WoW. You can do 120 instance runs a day. :)
(5 runs/hour • 24 hours/day = 120 runs/day)

To simply clarify how the rules work:
-You can only enter 5 instances an hour. This is account-wide.
-Dungeon Finder allows you to bypass this limit. HOWEVER, running dungeons through Dungeon Finder still counts towards the cap. This means if you run 5 dungeons through Dungeon Finder then attempt to enter an instance the normal way you'll get the message and won't enter.
-Raid instances count.
-The way it truly works is within any 1-hour period, you cannot enter instances more than 5 times. For instance, you enter an instance at 9:01. You then proceed to run 4 more runs at 9:05, 9:15, 9:23, and 9:49. You can then enter the instance at 10:01, 10:05, 10:15, 10:23, and 10:49.

This rule makes it kinda hard to farm your RP gear...
Kind of. I was running some 60s-70s instances with a...er...female friend of mine to get her some nice dresses. We couldn't get into the 6th Scholomance before an hour passed since the 1st one, into the 7th within an hour from the 2nd etc. etc. etc.
