Dual Wield Two-Handed Weapons!
Return to board index
Post by
Anarchy
Greetings fellow warriors, I've read elsewhere on the forums yesterday that in WoTLK we will have a new talent called titans grip in the fury build, allowing us to equip two-hand weapons as one-hand.
There was also something mentioned about slam, it's still staying in the tree and will have it's place as a dual-twohand fury warrior.
I'd just like to know your thoughts/opinions/speculations on this.

It's not a sure thing yet. There were rumours of this ability before TBC too, and in the end it wasnt included.
If it does get realized this time around, it is going to be a revolution for DPS warriors. Quite similar to enhancement shamans getting dual-wield at TBC launch.

And perhaps fury warriors will also become the king of melee DPS?
Though rogues will probably get some ridiculous talent that counters this.

The speed reduction is only 20% with 5 points in the way it is rumored to be right now.
It won't be included, hopefully, as it would just mean outrageous damage that every other class has to be buffed with too. I seriously doubt Blizzard will ever make warriors better melee DPS than the melee DPS class (rogues).

Are you crazy? I hope it is included, mainly because dual wielding two 2hand weapons will look freaking awesome, but I think blizzard won't let it become outrageously overpowered or else it will upset the balance of the rest of the classes, blizzard will do something about it I'm sure.

Who cares how awesome it looks, if it ruins the game or is incredibly stupid (I'm going to assume it will be), than it's not worth it.

It's not going to ruin the game, blizzard isn't
that
stupid.

Nothing lasts forever.
As for my thoughts on dual wielding a two-hander? Probably won't make it to release & if it does, it will affect not only dual wielding, but two-handed itemization itself will be guarded closely.
I believe it was TecnoBrat (don't quote me on this, though) who suggested that if Blizzard does implement this, there will also be a limitation implemented ala "This weapon may not be wielded with one hand."

Rogues have highest melee dps for a reason. Without that the rogue population would drop drastically.

and thats a bad thing how? maybe i'll get stun locked a hell of a lot less in the pvp that i HAVE to do. i see no loss here. rogues are meant to be a utility class... they shouldn't be doing more dps than a class that has combat at its heart. thanks much

Because of the lower stats, the weapon becomes mostly useless as a 2Hed weapon. Thus, using any weapon designed to be a DWed 2H weapon would be just the same as using a one hand weapon, but it would cost 5 talent points to use efficiently.
I hate to be negative, but isn't that exactly what's going to happen to two-handed weapons in PVE? I'm not sure I see any reason for Blizzard to allow us to wield something powerful without a catch. A speed penalty? Oh, please -- there's more than meets the eye in this story. ^_~
I don't think it will wreck the game, I think it's just a step in the direction away from a warrior with a sword and a shield being one of the worst damage dealers in the game. With all the questing, dailies, etc, Blizz wants to make tanks actually able to deal some damage.
So, this ability affects tanks in what way? Casual off spec players in normal 5-player content?
