Is this a new thing since patch 5.4?

Uh no,
Spirit
was always in the game.

I know it's been there since vanilla but look at the description.. I dont remember it saying that. Wouldn't that defeat the point of us healers having spirit as part of our stat.

They changed the spirit stat an expansion or two ago to that.
Post by
mashi
so there is no point in keeping spirit as part of our stats?

....If you don't want to regen mana, sure get rid of Spirit...or you know, hit anything.

I prolly get rid of some of it as when I'm out of combat, I tend to drink for mana regeneration otherwise I dont see the point of having so much spirit if it doesn't regenerate while in combat.

Spirit also provides Hit for casters.

Healer specs have passive abilities to make Spirit useful in combat.
Everyone but Paladins has
Meditation
, a
former Priest talent
.
Paladins have this effect as part of
, plus the active ability
.

suprised someone didn't point this out earlier in the post, cause this is the whole reason why healers want spirit (well till a certain threshold when they're comfortable with how much they get and start getting other stats)

Spirit also provides Hit for casters.
Certain casters. I don't think mages, warlocks, or boomers get hit from spirit.

Boomkins do get hit from Spirit, Mages and Locks don't.

Thanks for clearing that up guys... I thought It was me misunderstanding it :p haven't been playing for a while.
Didn't realise that meditation contributes 50% mana regen during combat

Wasn't sure about boomers since I don't play one or have any in our guild.....which is weird now that I think about it....lots of trees and kittens, but no boomers.

if you want too remember the easy way if a caster class can get hit from spirit.
remember this:
if the class got a healer specialization, then it's Dps caster spec gets hit from spirit. (elemental/boomkin/shadow priest)
if a class doesnt have a healer spec, then it's Dps caster specs have no benefit from spirit. (mage/warlock)
also expertise on every Dps caster is turned into hit rating.
now that should make everything clear on this off topic part, shouldn't it :D
