I don't understand why blood elves get hawkstriders, it makes much more sense for them to get a kitty in the zone or a mana worm. Hawkstriders are stupid....

That's nice; so don't use it. Mounts are account bound so you can use any of the others.
Myself, I love the Chocobo. And no, it doesn't make any sense for them to use Cats, since there isn't any lore for them regarding cat mounts. The main steed before the fall of the Quel'dori empire was
Quel'dorei Steed
after all.

I'm just saying that the starting zone is littered with cats why not use that? I dont see any lore reason behind them using the hawkstrider.

Hawkstrider
:
When Kael'thas led his followers to the ruined world of Outland, the vibrant hawkstriders that were brought with them proved to be welcome reminders of the blood elves’ beauteous home in Quel'Thalas. Valued for their trustworthiness and speed, these colorful avian creatures embody the inherent splendor of the forests within the blood elven kingdom. While tragedy has befallen Quel’Thalas in recent years, the hawkstriders remain an integral part of the elves’ day-to-day lives. There's the lore.

Technically speaking, pre-TBC there also wasn't any lore of them ever riding Hawkstriders either, only dragonhawks and unicorns.
So this is an argument were the door swings both ways.

Considering that the Cat mounts are what the group who booted them out of their homelands use, I couldn't see them picking them up again.

Personally, I think its more like: If they had made the blood elves ride cats, people would had whined about blizzard "rehashing" mounts rather than give them a unique mount :P
Also, I see the relation between the Farstriders and the eversong lynxes to be pretty much identical to that of the Sentinels and their nightsabres.

Thing is - they are uniqe. Yes, a horse would make more sence. But cats? Don't think so.

Sure you didn't mean Hawkstriders there Rank? I don't recall seeing any of the Farstrider forces with lynxes at their side, especially as they are Rangers compared to Sentinels who use their mounts as an ally to fight alongside them.

I've seen several dozen Farstrider NPCs across multiple continents using cats as their pets. Just as the sentinels use also cats as their hunting pets.

Could I get some examples of those Rank? Cause I am serious, I don't recall seeing the standard forces out and about in the Ghostlands and Eversong with Lynxes at their side; I recall seeing a few stable masters who have them at their side, but not the actual rangers.

I like it. It looks very dragonhawkey what is actually npc that is in the zone a lot. They have other animals there too but i guess the choice was dragonhawk mount.

Well, forsaken mounts use the same model as the human mounts, just a undead skin on the horse model.
And as for the blood elf using cat pets.
Khaliisi
uses a cat pet called
Frostbite
. And didn't the lynxes use collars made by the elves in the sunstrider isle?

Exactly, Unless i see lore why the hawkstriders are the belf mounts -or where the !@#$ they came from- i would accept it, but there is none to my concern. They are fun to use but i'd rather use a mount that makes sense. I'd say belf should be able to ride a cat or something in the area. Unicorns i would prefer. I'll post this on the main site later tonight. Its not called being gay, its called being FABULOUS

I agree with this dude. Yes, everyone else has logical answers, but they're missing the point. The hawkstriders aren't quite as majestic-looking as some of the other mounts, they look like ridiculous turkeys and a lot of us disliked them when TBC came out. As others suggested, now that mounts are account-wide and you can buy mounts at the bliz store, you can easily ride something else. Still, I get what you mean about the race-specific mount being flamboyantly silly.
