Musing about future classes

This is just a silly topic I'm making for the lulz, its 100% speculation and its entirely possible none of it come to pass.
But I think the next class they add to the game will be the last.
Multiple reasons really, the first is that with 12 classes we have a round number once more, plus tier tokens would have 4 classes each, with no classes feeling like they got shafted.
I also feel like the next class will be a mail wearer. We already have 3 plate users (Warriors, Paladins, Death Knights), 3 cloth users (Mages, Warlocks, and Priests) and 3 leather users (Rogues, Druids, and Monks), but only 2 mail users (Hunters and Shaman).
Going further with this line of thought, currently we have 3 class types, we have pure DPS classes, we have Hybrids (two roles) and we have true hybrids (three roles). There's 4 pure DPS (Rogues, Hunters, Warlocks, and Mages) and 4 Hybrids (Shaman, Death Knights, Warriors, and Priests) but only 3 true hybrids (Druids, Monks, and Paladins), so I also feel like the next class will be a True Hybrid capable of tanking, healing and DPSing.
What do you guys think?

Sounds reasonable because it's 100% speculation. Maybe Mail wearing Demon Hunters, or maybe Vykrul?

I tried searching through the existing lore classes for one that uses mail armor and can perform all 3 roles and couldn't come up with any =/
Wardens are a nice second, their kit isn't (I think) filled by current classes except maybe rogues, but they're not related to healing in any way.
I suppose they could introduce a completely brand new class (Chronomancer, Dragon Knight, Steam Warrior, Bard, etc) which would be an interesting idea. But I'm having this gut feeling that the next class will be using Mail, will be able to tank, heal and DPS, and will be the last class to be added to the game.
Just a hunch though.

Math. It works.

Given your math and the undeniable conclusions it provides, I would like to see them implement some sort of non-magic, steampunk themed class: Mail wearing: Tank spec focused on agility/deflection techs and avoidance mechanics, ranged DPS spec focused on guns/bombs/ranged, Heal spec focused on anatomy/chemistry/ pharmaceutical and healing techs.
With all of the magic-glowy-sparkle wielding, demon wrangling, facemelting and finger wiggling, Warcraft could use a class based strictly in science and physics.
There isn't much to support it lore-wise, other than gnomes/goblins and their inclinations. Could be a lot of fun though!

I would approve of this motion.
It has a few design challenges (mostly that it needs to feel different than just a warrior with Engineering and Alchemy) but I'd love to see a steampunk class in the game. Plus every class capable of healing, does so with magic. It would indeed be refreshing to see a non-magical healer that uses nothing but technology and innovation. They could call their mana pool "Fuel" but have it work just like mana does.
For DPS specs, the pool would be smaller but it would regen at a tremendous speed (Like the mana in destruction warlocks) and be called High Octane Fuel.
I approve of the Agi-based Mail Wearing, Techo-steampunk fighter.
Hmm, apart from rifles, what other weapon would be suited for them though?

I had to wiki "steampunk" but after reading it seems appropriate that steam driven technology would be 15 yard and up range, making them stand a little closer then true ranged. I would think 30-40 yard range would cause the steam to disipate. What I'm getting at I guess is that weaponry would consist of guns (also to be looted by hunters which bliz would think is fair) but short range guns that are steam powered that do heavy damage but slower than crossbows even.
I don't know how they would work it out, is there any loot that only one class gets to loot for? This kinda sounds like a trooper vanguard from star wars honestly. I know it's different but maybe it's just not in the genre.
Different idea all together: I have heard people mention Naga's quite often. You introduce a Naga for a race then all the steam weaponry along with the new race. Also maybe tanks would use Tridents. They could use a mix of melee and spells just like the naga's already do. But putting a large focus on water based attacks

Just had a new thought with the naga stuff. When you run Steam Vaults, there are bog beasts around; what about a fungal approach for the new class.
Fungal DPS
Fungal Heals
Fungal Tank/trident
Besides the wild mushroom spell, there isn't fungal attacks or heals i don't think. Will there be a fungus among us?

Yeah but just because something hasn't been approached, doesn't necesarily means its something cool to have.
A fungi-based class? Yeah I wouldn't play that.

I also belive the next class is to be a tinker (remember these madmen from wc3?)
Gnomes, goblins and dwarf fit with ease into the class.
If you add alchemy then undead fit. If it's technomage then space goat and blood elf fit (Netherstorm do I need to say more?)
The class can work even with the enginering proffesion, I mean enchanting is arcane magic that mages work with.
I like the idea of a alchemy healing spec, not like we had a support in wc3 called Alchemist.
The techno mage can work as a tank using int or agi and uses sci-fi gimmics from tbc like force shields, sonic taunts and a blink spell called warp.
The last one could have more of a steampunk warrior who shot rockets, mecha pets, mecha morph etc. And possibly with a explosion on death like the goblin sappers.
Edit: Though not a class idea, I like a glyph for affi locks to give them undead minions. Part of the warlock class is a Necromancer, but it is unseen under all the demons and voidspawn, but if you look at affi, you can see the Necromancer.

I dont believe it will be mail wearing.. Demon Hunters got high chance to be implemeted on an expansion against Burning Legion . Demon Hunters might have brand new spells compared to Warlocks....

Actually Demon Hunters have little to no chance to be implemented since they mimic too many other classes...and the fact that there is only about one or two Hunters out there.

And blizzard does not make a class from one class. But they use several to form a playable class. The warlock for example have demon hunter, demologist, shadow mage, blood mage, necromancer and more tossed into the playable class.
To make the same go for demon hunter.... Well you run dry. Even the death knigth was used by many. And by that I mean all the undead units. Not dreadlord, and add dark ranger.
Thats why I wote for Tinker, as we have tinker, alchemist, technomage to build on.

The Tinker Medic spec could use healing beams, nanobot HoT, liquid bandages, antidotes. Think a cross between Star Trek's Dr. McCoy or Dr. Crusher, and Pathfinder's Alchemist class. They could set up a triage station similar to a lightwell mechanic.
Tinker Gunslinger uses ranged, except for bows and wands. Potential for dual wielding guns or crossbows? Abilities would focus around balancing fast, bullet spray abilities and long CD nukes with bombs or grenades. Nanobot DOT, and a totem-like turret for burst?
They could have an engineered mecha pet that would be similar to a Undead Dk's minion; less specialized or versatile than a hunter pet, but an important aspect of their role.
Tinker Panzer (sorry I lol'd at that one) - Dual wielding tank spec with force fields, nanobot self heals or damage absorption, mitigation balanced around dodging and armor like bear and monks, the other agility tanks, but better at mitigating magic damage. A fast, active rotation, like an Enh shammy tank.
Blizz must do this :D

Another example is the warrior which borrows from the mountain king, blademaster, tauren chieftain, and a little bit from other units.
Rogues take so many elements of so many classes =P
Demon Hunters have very VERY little chance to ever see the light of day, and I've already stated several reasons why on your thread Arberian. You haven't yet acknowledged the number 1 issue: Weapons.

man I love your ideas.
Here's a cool way to approach the weaponry of the DPS Spec:
You do what they did for the monks. Monks equip weapons but they are just stat sticks. There to give you the stats, but when using skills they use their hands (Tiger Palm, Jab, Fists of Fury, Touch of Death) or feet (Rising Sun Kick, Blackout Kick, Flying Serpent Kick, Spinning Crane Kick)
Tinkers could equip any ranged weapon for the stats, but visually they always pull dual pistols, or dual spring-loaded automated crossbows, to pump their enemies full of led/bolts. Have the tank spec pull out a big giant flamethrower for hitting mobs at short range and tanking up close, and have the healer spec pull out a big Potion Gun :P its like a hose but sprays healing concoctions rather than water.

Maurvyn I really like your idea. I like how you've thought out each spec and that each spec uses some core abilities that the other two specs use. I will say again though, that it deffinately sounds like a star wars class but I did have fun playing the classes in star wars. Also the Wild Star version is a "medic" or "engineer" and they seem like fun examples

Nice!
Also Feral and Guardian druids, and pretty much every caster since ever. The weapon is a stat provider and nothing else.
Flamethrower for melee range AoE and rockets or grenades for ranged pulls.
Tazer-like stuns, and nets or alchemical goo for CC?
Also a cool class flavor ability would be a grappling hook - climb up walls and hills and such. ( or pull in mobs!)
I better stop or I will get terribly disappointed when this doesn't go live....

I admit... I doubt that we'll see any new classes any time soon, but I LOVE the idea of a tinker/technomage class.

Men i love this idea! I know this thread is a bit old but i hope the after-WoD expansion adds something like this.
It'd be totally different to all the other classes we have available now and yet would work. I was also thinking of a third mail wearing class that could do all 3 specs but nothing came to mind, now that "Tinker" class sounds awesome and fitting.
Lore-wise, it's tanking spec could be explained with them filling their armor gaps and joints with steam powered pistons and magic absorbing valves, which would make mail armor appropriate. The DPS spec sounds great with ranged weapon "stat-sticks" and dual-wielding hand guns, but with a couple minor glyphs, one that changes the hand guns to automatic crossbows and another that allows them to use their currently equipped ranged weapon. No problem with them using bows and arrows, remember all those archers in fiction that snap stuff to their arrows. For the healing spec, i can't think no other than what has been said already. Li'l bots for HOTS (yes, not nano, there has to be a visual effect) and healing potion like injectors sounds super fun!
Oh please Blizzard, add something very much like this!
