The future of PvP - WoD
Hello guys,
I made this topic for the PvP community of WoW. If you ask all PvP players in WoW the majority will tell you that WoW got worse nearly every expansion and that the game lost it´s touch. But as long as we all keep paying the monthly subscription Blizzard will keep on going with what they are doing, so it is up to us to kick Blizzard in their asses and tell those monkeys step by step what to do. (Hope I didn't offend anyone.)
As we all know Blizzard announced a new expansion called Warlords of Dreanor. To be honest I do not care about the new features such as building a castle or the new charactermodells. Don´t get me wrong it is nice to have but that will not fix your game.
So what I´m going to post is my ideas, what could be done before WoD hits. Tell me what you think should be changed and what you think about my ideas. If your ideas get uprated a lot I will add them here.
1. Gearing in WoD - Gear for Rating
As in earlier seasons you should have to get to a certain rating to get gear.
As soon as you hit the rating for the item it is unlocked, you don´t need any points to buy your items (to prevent teams from sitting on their rating and farming high cap through different bracket). I would give T2 Weapons at 2.2 in 3s, Shoulders at 2k in 3s. The rest of the Gear should be able to achieve through certain rating in 2s and 3s (or 3s and 5s/rbg, not quite sure yet). I´d say from 1450-2050 in different brackets (at least 2 different for the entire gear set) Maybe add a 2 kind of similar Mounts for each season at 2000 and 2400 rating. (It is more important to add rating for gear than to get rid of conquest points)
2. Reward skilled Gameplay
There should be more (not too much though) spells like swd or cs, these spells give you extra reward when you play well. swd for example gives you an huge advantage when its used correctly. If you sad a poly you not only break the cc but you also get dr on that cc. If you use cs as a "softcounter" , you only get 4 sec. silence and Holy Paladin´s can use Aura Mastery or Bubbl to get out of it, but if you cs during the cast ("hardcounter") the silence is 8 sec. and you can't Aura Mastery or Bubbl.
3. Less is more (Too much CC etc.)
In the current state of game I think there is too much Crowd Control, and some spells just shouldn't be in the game. I will take a few classes and explain what that means. Warrior´s have 2 Reflects (1 is Aoe), 2 Interrupts and 2 stuns. CC is a very strong "weapon" and I really think less is more.
4. Ready Stone for Arenas
I don´t know why this isn´t done already, pls implement Ready Stone! If everyone in the arena clicked the Ready Stone the remaining time till the arena starts will be set to 15 seconds. It takes about 1 hour to implement this feature and i think everyone would be thankful.
5. Tournament Feature
My idea is pretty much to implement a tournament function into WoW. See I think of a NPC in Sw / Og with whom you can either host/join a tournament.
Host a tournament: You can choose between hosting a 2s/3s or 5s tournament. With 4/8 or 16 teams. You can set a prize pool and an entering fee. And you can set a time at which the tournament starts.
6. Beta Tester
In so many Games there are high rated people that are in close touch with the dev team of the game. Just a Group of WoW players with some game knowledge. Make a Beta Forum for them and they should try out everything and than reply/discuss with each other and you guy´s from Blizzard.
7. Lf PvP
Crossrealm Arenas and RBG are possible maybe help people find others easier by making a feature that finds mates for you (so you don`t have to spam Sw/Og on 1 realm). You should be able to set required exp, cr, gear, comb etc. . Than maybe both players get summoned to random area and can queue than.
Idk thats it for me. What are your thoughts?

More like not enough; CC is skill. If you don't know how to properly use your crowd control abilities, you deserve to die to another player.

There's definitely too much CC right now. It's not hard at all to keep a focus target locked up because the amount of CC spells and abilities so vastly outnumber the ways we have to escape them - trinket, maybe a bubble, maybe a racial for certain kinds of CC. That's it against a laundry list of stuns, fears, interrupts, polys, etc. etc.
I like most of your suggestions but I don't see the logic of giving higher skilled payers access to more powerful gear, as all that'll do is reduce mobility up and down the ratings. Hard enough to beat a superior team without them having a gear advantage as well.
By all means let's reward people who achieve high ratings with titles, mounts, cosmetically different gear, etc. but not more powerful gear.
The one thing that really bugs me about the PVP game is the gear choice, ie: there isn't any. Apart from maybe a reforging or gem tweak here or there, every geared out Holy Pally is identical to every other geared out holy pally. Ditto for every other class.
Of course someone somewhere will always theorycraft the hell out of whatever they put in the game and produce an 'optimum' setup, but it would be nice if we had more gear options to reflect the various playstyles

One thing that has to change is the absolute domainance of pve gear, cata was pretty good in that, an pvp geared player had the edge over a raider with his luckgear in world pvp, and the raider would have to do actual arenas to earn his gear instead of gambling with how fast he can mash his macro.

I agree with this, as an almost full geared greiv lock I lose almost everytime to a well geared raider in world PvP. All they have to do is use their far supior health and stats to quickly burst anyone down. This is tru especially on the Timeless Isle were the strongest bloody coin farmers are in full raid gear. It was supposed to promote PvP not people with raid gear using their high dps to quickly demolish people.

Bit of irony there, since so many people want the age of Vanilla world pvp to return...and that's how it was: The raiders dominating everyone else.

That's a generalized statement, which you don't have the authority to make for the rest of the world. The fact that WoW still has over 7 million subscribers and is the most actively played MMO in the world, with a PvP community that's still active, kind of nullifies your claim.
You should consider that the people angry with Blizzard are not the majority, but the minority and are simply more vocal than average. This doesn't mean they're
right
.
I'm not against greater horizontal progression instead of vertical progression. I think it's an interested paradigm that's well employed in
other
games. WoW is not one of them. It is designed around vertical progression, and it does that exceptionally well.
People
want
progression, and your ideas don't account for that. They want goals to set for themselves, to overcome later on. People may complain that it feels like a chore, but in the end they play the game
because
it makes them spend time for their accomplishments. This is what keeps people playing. It plays on ambition, and it's an important aspect of RPGs. Giving away items so easily (or based on the prestige of rating instead of the work involved with farming points) is counter to this.
Just giving people more of these abilities doesn't reward skilled gameplay, it does the opposite. If you have a huge selection of clutch abilities to randomly spam, you're gonna end up hitting one of them at the right time merely by accident. Giving you access to fewer "clutch" abilities makes you think about when best to use them. I would say WoW actually has too many of these right now.
This is a problem, but it's blown out of proportion. People underestimate the impact that just removing 1 or 2 abilities would have. The developers have addressed that there is too much control present in the game right now. But part of what makes WoW's balance so much more stable than just about any other current MMO is that they do not make these sorts of big changes easily. They're conservative about change, preferring to make smaller adjustments in the middle of an expansion. They wait until the next expansion to make bigger changes, when the new level cap essentially resets the playing field anyway.
The problem with that is abuse. Somebody wants to be an !@#$%^& and just doesn't click it, what happens then? You already have ample time to prepare yourself, and you should be ready to start a match the minute you queue up. Other people shouldn't have to wait on your leisure because you want to %^&* around for 5 minutes pre-match.
You can sort of already do this. It's not built into the game, but nothing prevents your guild from hosting this sort of activity.
6. Beta Tester
In so many Games there are high rated people that are in close touch with the dev team of the game. Just a Group of WoW players with some game knowledge. Make a Beta Forum for them and they should try out everything and than reply/discuss with each other and you guy´s from Blizzard.
I don't think that type of back and forth exchange with the developers really exists. Besides, WoW has game designers. Why should they consult an outside group of unpaid individuals with no experience in game design, to tell them how to do their job?
Maybe that will become a thing. Then again, I sort of hope it doesn't. Have you seen the quality of players LFG puts you in with?
