Trashed by Blizzard

I was thoroughly trashed by Blizzard/Battle.net. I was happily playing World of Warcraft earlier this month on the Labor Day weekend when I got a message saying that my email and message privileges were "temporarily suspended" pending an investigation. Two hours later I was suddenly banned from my account and accused of buying WOW gold online for real money and spamming it in the game. They never gave me a chance.
I never did any such thing. I was a loyal player and worked very hard at it. I also bought three mounts directly from Blizzard that I can no longer use because my account was shut down. They took those away from me along with all my toons and all they had accumulated in over a thousand hours of playing.
I tried desperately to contact their customer service to tell them that my computer was hacked but was ignored. All I could get were emails telling me to change my password! I can't even post a plea on the WOW forum because my account was banned.
I'm not a hacker or a cheat, I'm 72 years old and all I wanted to do is play this great game in my retirement but these people and their cold-hearted, mechanical "customer service" have destroyed that and taken my money for the mounts I bought.
I will NEVER play any games by these people again.

When my account was hacked during WoTLK, I got no where with the emails to them. However, one phone call to their Customer Support and my account was fixed within an hour. About 3 days later I got all my gear back that was disenchanted or sold off. In short, don't mess with the email system, I haven't heard of anyone having success with it over a hacked/banned account. Also, get an authenticator.

Call them, don't email. Make sure you have your account recovery information.
And as Quesac said, buy an authenticator. Someone could have gotten onto your account without you realizing it.

You could have clicked on an ad
accidently
, which lead you to a keylogging website. Without an authenticator, they could have accessed your account with ease. In fact they could have accessed any account requiring a password, not just your WoW account.

This. I was hacked once a long time ago, after my account had been inactive for 3 months. I called them and everything was restored within about 3-4 days.

If you have an entire day you can dedicate to calling Blizzard...well, expect to be on phone all day only to get kicked. If that doesn't happen and you get through, you will still wait a while to get your account back.
lolwut. When I was hacked, I called them and had it all cleared up in half an hour. I was on hold for 5 minutes.

That's all the further I got because I'd be willing to bet you sent account details in response to this message, right? Blizzard NEVER asks for this information from you.

Blizzard CAN'T suspend your e-mail privileges. There's no such thing as a Blizzard e-mail (unless you work for them). The original e-mail was a phishing attempt, and it probably worked if you were then banned.

I was hacked in WotLK, one email sorted it out.
It took a couple of days but they were on the ball and very professional.

You got phished.
As others have said Blizzard will NEVER EVER ask for account information such as passwords.
You willingly gave some scammer all your details and that is how your account got banned.
You should call them (not email as that has probably be compromised too) and explain, then get an Authenticator.
Don't be so quick to blame Blizzard, as in 99.9999% of the time with people getting banned the problem lies between keyboard and chair.

Also known as a PICNIC error in tech circles :-)
@OP
You got Phished. You need to secure your email account, plus change the passwords for any account with the same or similar password to both your WoW and email accounts. Your email and wow account NEED to have
totally
different passwords and ideally you should use a separate email account purely for your wow account.

You got phished, not hacked.
basically you got an email saying your were banned. They told you not to email them, but instead go toa website and submit a ticket. They also very nicely gave you a direct link in the email to the website where you could appeal your suspension.
The problem is that email did not come from Blizzard, it came from the hackers. You clicked the link, went to THEIR website and happily logged into that website using your battle.net information. Congrats, you just gave away your account information.
Nobody gets ´hacked´ anymore, and even the most basic anti-malware software picks up keyloggers. Instead, almost all compromised accounts come because players get an email, and then give the bad guys their account information.
NEVER, EVER click a link in an email from ANYONE.

At this point, OBEYING rule will protect people more then anti-virus.
Of course everyone should have to AV running, but...

THANK YOU!
For all the helpful responses. I took your suggestions about actually calling Blizzard up. They agreed that I had been hacked and have restored my account. I've been completely restored and have gotten all my stuff back.
If it wasn't for your helpful responses I would never have thought to call them up (duh!)
Thanks again.
