Hey
I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not an American can make an account on a EU server or a EU person can make an American account
If so how does a person do this?
Thanks
Miss Princess

They don't, since you can't 'legally' do it.

I don't see how they'd know your citizenship. What's to stop an American from buying a copy of the European client and playing it?

Because they can tell where your ISP is being generated?

this isn't true adams. I've known 2 people from europe that play in US realms. As long as you pay the sub, blizz doesn't really cares where you're from or where you choose to play.
What baffles me is that there's still a separation between US and EU players. I've known a lot of great people in this website, people that I wanna play wow with, but can't add them in Real ID because they're in EU realms.

The US version and the EU version of the game are two separate games, thus you will have to purchase whichever version of the game for the region that you wish to play, any expansions that you wish to play for that region as well as game time for that region.

Not true. I know several streamers who play on both realms. It is different clients/installers/servers but the same game.
You can actually have both on the same PC

So you have to purchase the version of the game for the region that you wish to play, or am I mistaken?

I am american who has been living in Europe for the last 2 years and I play on US servers just fine. I had to get it unlocked a couple of times due to them thinking I was getting hacked, other then that they don't care.

Even the clients are identical (looking at enUS and enGB here) but for a setting in the Config. In another recent thread, I
described step by step
how to alter a client's region.
If you want to play on both regions, it's as simple as installing it once, copying the installation folder to another location, and change the Config for one of the now two installations. No absolute guarantee though that patches won't break this, though, but even then, it's just a matter of copying the contents from the working installation over the broken one - without touching the folder Interface, Screenshots and WTF to not lose settings specific to that installation.

There is no restriction on setting up an account wherever the hell you want.
Blizzard will not stop you as long as you can pay for it and as long as it does not violate trade embargoes. (Hence why Iranian Wow players are getting screwed)

I am from Europe but live in Mexico and I played on EU servers just fine for many years.
Lag is the biggest problem.

Just FYI: If you already have a US account, you can set up an EU account on the same battlenet account. But achieves, mounts and pets will not be shared.
And like Rankkor has said you can't add US Battlenet or RealID tags to an EU account. But if you have a lot friends in another zone, you can install Diablo III and switch from EU to US servers and back as often as you want in the game config, which allows you to talk to your old friends in WoW from your D3 login in the other zone.
This actually gives Diablo III a use as a clunky chat program which is arguably better than playing it. x)
