Cloak and Dagger now requires the Rogue to be in Stealth. Shadow Dance will not remove the Stealth requirement for Cloak and Dagger.

Yeah, I played a few random BGs as combat, in my 2-patch-outdated gear, and managed fine.

Combat is only good for cleave dmg. However rogues normally aren't in aoe/cleave situations (stealth capping or stealth base def) in RBGs, and if you are, you can just fok as assassin spec. I've mostly seen sub rogues in RBGs (before the patch) and it is b/c of the extreme burst dps that sub has over other specs.

That's right... "You think". Get a sub spec and try it out yourself. Stop assuming and being bad.

I think Combat has higher burst then Sub outside the opener. But ofc Sub has great control. It is nice when you go to AV and you are deffing at Alliance bridge and you go there and put BF + trinkets + SB + KS and bang! At least 5 guys dead.
Atm I think the specs go like Assassination >= Combat >Sub. I this patch I have seen rarely Sub Rogues and I really think their damage is low. In last patch they could down me in opener (rarely did couse of my trink + KS burst) but now they can't even get 50% of my HP away before they die.
There are really few Rogues doing BG and I got myself almost kicked couse I was Rogue. I mean really? Last time that has happened was in Cata and with Warlock...

Thus, you were the reason why i have left wowhead forum.

I won't explain anything or talk about this topic again Tush, but you act like you know everything there is to rogues but you don't. Please just sit down and read things others who have tried and tested EVERYTHING, with numbers. Big friking deal you can kill people in regular battlegrounds as combat. That is NOTHING, wait until you get into RBGS against a good team you WILL get melted. That or they'll ignore you for most of the game and just heal through your dps.
I get you like the RP aspect of combat vs sub, but that has nothing to do with anything we've mentioned here. Most questions on wowhead is asking about theory crafting, none of which you have read, researched or properly done. If you want to learn more
http://elitistjerks.com/f78/
is a good starting spot, but some of the info needs to be updated and tweaked for 5.3.

To answer your questions. Yes, I have done tests myself on things. Yes I have switched between specs of equal gear to do said tests. Before I do some posts, I even spend about 15 mins of in game time to verify my positions and try things out. But I admit I don't do super in-depth theory crafting to create dps models.
Yes I understand basic algebra, that's what most formulas used in game are. When you factor in proc mechanisms, you'll need some basic statistics to get average case over a long-ish period of time. It is not calculus, discrete or number theory all of which I have learned during my undergrad.
I'll quote one piece from something you've said in the past from
http://www.wowhead.com/forums&topic=211574&p=3428890
"I never used ShadowPanther. I try stuff and the stuff I like I use and wich I don't I don't use."
This is a slap in the face of one of the most respected rogue players in ALL of world of warcraft. That's like telling Isaac Newton, "I don't believe in your formulas on Newtonian/classical mechanics, I'm just going to free ball it."
The point is you give bad information that you "feel" is correct when it isn't. People asking for simple, "what's best in XX case" just want a simple answer, and so please don't answer these questions unless you are ready to back it up with numbers and evidence.
Lastly, good for you that you enjoy combat, give the other specs some time and maybe you'll like those as well. But don't equate your success in BGs to being good BECAUSE BGs are where all the under geared players are trying to get honor for honor gear.

Do you have anything important to say?
You joined 2 days ago and you have only 5 posts...
ohh god
The fact that you have less than 1k rep after over 2k posts means you talk too much. Try posting for quality over quantity and improve your grammar past that of an elementary school kid - the post area even has a spell checker so there are no excuses.
Also to the people who actually know what they are talking about, I am returning to wow after a 1 year break, what spec is best for pvp for a level 85 rogue leveling by BGs. I haven't played my rogue in over 2 years so gear advise, glyphs, etc would help too.

Sub or assassin. Glyphs and talents doesn't really matter too much since it is all situational and depends on what you're really doing. check out

and
http://www.arenajunkies.com/topic/228496-vishas-and-hildegards-rogue-guide-approved-by-reckful/
. Between these two you should have enough info to step into a 2v2 arena.

Do you happen to know the newest secondary stat weights for sub rogue? The Reckful approved guide says Mastery>=Crit>Haste but
http://www.noxxic.com/wow/pvp/rogue/subtlety/stat-priority
says Haste>Crit>Mastery and it is updated for patch 5.3 while the Reckful one is only partially updated until 5.2. Which is accurate? I find it odd that it did a complete 180 turn in one-two major patches.
