I delete my Cache folder every night after I log off but for some reason, for the last fortnight, Loque'nahak stays cached. Everything else clears just fine, but not that one. Any ideas on where it's storing this data?

Could be reading another hunters pet?

It isn't giving me the blaring "Found" message, but these certainly seem like the most likely answers. Thank you!

It can do the same with
King Krush
and other tamable rares. It caches them but doesn't alert you because they usually have a different name as a pet.

NPCScan and other similar addons work by reading the tooltip regularly to alert you as to when the game first "sees" that NPC.
The game will cache some details of an NPC the first time it is seen, to prevent querying the server repeatedly.
Tameable pets have the same ID number, and so the addon cannot tell which is which.
It will not alert when it is found in a zone other than where it spawns, but will trigger on tamed pets in the correct zone.
The best approach is to log out in a less crowded region, preferably somewhere really remote as to minimise the chances of encountering hunters prior to to reaching the correct location.
