You're missing out on great quests. Especially in Jade's Forest and Valley of the Four Winds. Also, do you have any professions? Don't you need mats from Pandaria. I would queue occasionally and quest most of the time to make it fun.
Cheers.

You gotta do the quests in each zone. Not only do you get good xp, but you also gain rep that is needed for those purple items that help you add to your gear lvl for future raiding. When you get bored w/the quests, that's when you go into the dungeons.
Then all you gotta do is rinse and repeat
.

Generally speaking, questing > dungeons for leveling, unless you have a group of friends that you can steamroll through random instances with.

My 85-90 path is:
Quest in Jade Forest until 86
Quest in Valley of the Four Winds until 87
Then Kun-Lai until 88 or close to 89, depending on how froggy I am and how much I want to stay in that zone
then Townlong to 89
Then Dread Wastes (doing the Klaxxi quests) to 90.
I do also run each dungeon at least once per level, for the quest exp and possible boss drops. Also to break up questing monotony.
I think my next 85 (my DK) will probably do Krasarang at 86 instead just for a change.

But from what I recall, most of the rep you'll be seeing will be minimal actually.
There will be some August Celestials and Shado-pan in Kun-Lai, and perhaps a tiny bit of Golden Lotus, and some SP (or was it GL, I don't recall) in Townlong, but really you won't see any major rep gain until you hit 89 (assuming you start Klaxxi as soon as you hit 89.)
Just remember to Champion a faction when LFD.

Only took me 10 hours and 51 playing time to get my latest toon from 85 to 90 . Rested xp all the way helped big time tho .
I did it mainly by questing with some dungeons ( between 5 and 8 dungeons ) .

Having levelled a few characters through various means I can tell you that questing is the way to go if you value your sanity. There might be a case where dungeons is faster (you have a tank and healer and DPS in 85 PvE epics), but generally quests will be less painful.

If you are going to be doing a lot of alts. There are a couple of things you can do to make it easier.
1. Park the alts you aren´t going to play for a few weeks at the spawn points to rares.. To me, it is fun to just log in, kill a rare and log out. The fights are interesting if you are lvl 85. Most of my alts are lvl 86 just from doing that. Once you get an alt to 86, you can then skip JF on those alts if you want.
2. different paths. It will generally take you 3 zones to go from 85-90 with rested exp. Use the strengths of each class to help you decide. V4W has a bunch of annoying AOE garbage mobs ( vermin and moths).. so take the alts with good AOE through that one, and take the others through KW. If you have a blacksmith, or a character that you actually want to get into LFR, then you should probably do Klaxxi/dread wastes when you hit 89. You will be able to have the blacksmith patterns and all the way to revered before you hit 90.
3. If you have a tank or healer, just do a dungeon a day while questing with one of your other alts. that is what I am doing with my DK.. when I am in the mood, I stop questing with my warlock, and instead tank a quick dungeon.
If you plan ahead, you can have a lot of variety on how you get your alts to 90. I had 10 85´s coming into MOP.. so yeah.. running them all through LFD, or questing them all through the same zones would be insanely boring. Really, JF is the only zone I got bored with, because I did it will my first 3 characters.. but now I am basicaly done with it, the others are able to skip it.

Agree, why don't you try put a little variation into the way you level, by doing some quests, dungeons or even battlegrounds?
The MoP quest chains is my personal favorites of all.

85-90 you will pretty much do Stormstout Brewery and Temple of the Jade Serpent. And here is the best part. Once you get to 90, you will be stuck in those as heroics until you get your item level up. But that is when you need to do the scenarios, which will help you up your ilvl to get you into LFR.
So far I have taken two toons 85-90 and I tried to do 85-90 with a third one and I just can't stand it, so I parked the third one at 88.

If you're getting Stormstout and Temple 87-89, you're either on a low pop battlegroup that's pulling from higher levels to fill the groups, or you have terrible terrible luck. As soon as you hit 87 you're eligible for Shado-Pan Monastery and Mogu'shan Palace and those are what you -should- be getting.
If you quest a zone til its completion (as someone here mentioned) you will invariably have a lower ilvl than someone who moves to the next zone upon leveling, and yes, you will be (as Rabican1 indicates) be more likely stuck in the "easier" heroic LFD dungeons until you get a few drops/quest rewards/etc.
But if you switch zones at each level, you'll get better gear from the quests (up to 442/450 from Dread Wastes) and you'll be much better geared at 90 and have a better range of options in heroic randoms.

Should be, yeah, but the only two instances I saw on my rogue from 86-89 were Temple and Monastery aside from when I specifically queued for Mogu'shan to do the quests. It got to the point where I would queue up, quest while waiting, zone in and immediately drop group because I just couldn't do it anymore. (See also: Lost City of Tol'vir, Violet Hold)
I know that it's just RNG, really, but it is certainly possible to find yourself stuck in the same instance over and over and over again like some twisted, horrible MMORPG version of Groundhog Day.
