sometimes i do not feel like questing or doing dungeons, and if i happen to have a gathering profession, herbalism and/or mining, i just fly around and get me some easy xp while taking finally the time to enjoy the sights. I then wish for the day that computer graphics would be much closer to reality than they are now. The pleasure of sightseeing would then be breathtaking.

You didn't mention what graphics settings you play on, I am fortunate enough to play on ultra setting and viewing on a non-matte screen. The visual details are absolutely brilliant and the colors vibrant.
Flying over the sea for instance and seeing the images below under the water is a wonderful sight.
I've always been an explorer. Back before flying I would try to make it to the most remote places.
I think the landscape had a certain charm prior to the Cata/Azeroth revamp. Places that Blizz put into the game that may have had an initial purpose. but eventually fell to the wayside.
Islands that required certain buffs/abilities to get to without fatigue dying first. Mountain plateaus that required some fancy jumping footwork to get to.
Remote lakes and seeing life forms change depending on whether it was day or evening.

i have played with a top amd card, hd 7970, and i must admit i do not see much difference with the lower level hd 6770 i am using now because it uses much less power. computer graphics still have a long way to go before even reaching cinema quality, not to mention realistic 3d scenes. maybe over 10 or 15 years, if not more.
but still, enjoying now and enjoying imagining the future.

I play with the 7970...but the image detail quality comes from the gloss screen I use. The HP2511.
Amazing what the difference is between that and your typical matted screen.
Maybe not MoP trailer like quality, but again the graphic in WoW have that charm to it that might not be so well received as some people think were they to go full bore update. We are use to it.
Sort of like colorizing an old black & white classic.

agreed, its why I enjoy RPGs with open worlds instead of "narrow-corridor" worlds.
You know, like wow, and skyrim. one of the biggest reasons I was put off from SWTOR is that while the worlds were beautiful, they were just corridors, you couldn't really explore them at depth.

The battle at Lions landing/Domination Point is something pretty nice to watch.
meh they don't feel as epic to watch as other NPC battles. For me the most fun NPC battle to watch is on Pit of Saron, near the end, when you fight Scourgelord Tyrannus, and the prisoners you rescued hold back an endless tide of skeletons, THAT is fantastic to watch, both the alliance version and the horde version.
Seeing paladins, shamans, mages, priests, warriors, and hunters all in action using a plethora of skills to hold back an endless wave of death to buy you time to kill Tyrannus is pure awesome.
IMO that's the most fantastic NPC battle you can see on the game.
The reason I'm not too impressed with the battles at lion's landing and domination point is how NPCs just auto-attack one another and use only at most 1 or 2 skills that are simple strikes. There are alliance and horde shamans that do have like 4 skills but both the alliance shamans, and the horde shamans are away from the main battle (Beach head on Lion's Landing, Outer Docks on Domination Point) so you don't really get much chances to see them in action. There are also alliance and horde paladins, and they too have plenty of skills, but all the alliance vindicators are too inside their base, and all the horde blood knights are on the mines. =/ what a waste.
What's really aggravating is that there are 2 hero units based on Warcraft 3 (for extra nostalgia) and they don't do anything. A mountain King, and a Blademaster, and they are both too far away from the carnage. NOT COOL!
If i was in charge of that, I'd add Buffed up NPCs based on each Hero Unit of Warcraft 3 (So, a paladin, an arch mage, a mountain king, a Warden, and a Priestess of the Moon for the alliance, and a Blademaster, Farseer, Tauren Chieftain, Shadowhunter, and Blood Mage for the Horde) and have these support the waves of NPCs killing each other on the beach heads of both bases. THAT WOULD HAD BEEN AWESOME.
