Hi guys
it´s been some days with this idea swirling around: What if blizzard let players to trade prepurchased game time in the AH? It would be like buying a guardian cub to sell it later, but the customer would know that instead of making another player look prettier he would be making another player stay longer :)
I would go further, and would let players a way to bind the game time to their realms, so they could be sure they would be positively impacting their nearby comunity and thus their playtime experience. Not to mention that this extra mechanism could even increase blizzard income as some players wanting to play in 2 different realms would need to buy separate tokens.
I dont know, it´s only an idea. I think it give players a way to impact on their servers vitality, make the game more accesible to low income players, reward those players interested in the well being of the comunity and it´s economically sustainable.
So, let me hear your comments...

Well, I think it would stimulate the economy in terms of a new reason to farm items to turn into gold. I think it might increase the overall player base of wow, and it wouldn't hurt blizzard financially, since every game card would be bought for cash, even if it was later resold for gold.
The problem would be that it would concentrate those new players on the already high population realms. If you look at the difference between a high population and a low population realm AH, most items are much cheaper, and much more plentiful, on the high population server. On a low population server there might be 3 available per month per faction, vs. 30, 50 or 100 on a high pop server. More competition drives prices down, meaning that a person looking to buy game card for gold would pay less on the high population server. So they would concentrate there, and it would be an additional incentive for people to move there from low population servers.

yeah it has a lot of leaks :) why would i post it for debate if it were totally conceived? dont take me wrong, just had an idea.
About, breaking the bank, i think there are a lot of ppl who like the game but dont like the idea of paying a monthly fee to play, so they'd rather stick with other 1-time-paid games. Specially teens and ppl residing in undeveloped countries.
Around the other two points, which i really liked:
1- this will concentrate players on high pop servers, thats interesting, havent thought of that. Im sure there could be a way to work it around. It could be possible to find an incentive or restriction to keep players in low pop while they slowly grow.
2- I think those who will focus on making money just to buy the game time are just a little sector of the player base, i dont think those players that had been enjoying their paid game time will suddenly and stop enjoying their play time to keep it free.
Going off to bed now with the my mind on how to bind players to their native low pop servers... thanx guys
