Stuck on connecting

For the past few hours, I got stuck on connecting and after a few minutes pass, it says that I got disconnected or an error has occured. It started a few hours ago when I logged on with no problem then I lagged and disconnected. My internet speed is fine, but I cant access battle.net and worldofwarcraft.com. I dont know if its because it's down or if it's just my computer.
Does the blizzard on the east coast have anything to do with it, and if it doesn't what should I do? I restarted the computer and the router and nothing works. I'm on a windows xp
Edit: I forgot to mention but the launcher is all black while the play button is enabled, but it takes a few min sometimes. I got in a few times a few hours ago but I lagged out. But right now, I can't even get into the creation screen.

Having the same problem here.
When I get in though, the loading bar will get up almost to the end and it'll say "Character not found"

If the storm on the east coast is affecting you, maybe that's the reason?

I figured something out..it was fine the whole day until now. And whenever I have the login issues, I cant go on the official site either. I think its some dns block and when I looked up how to fix it, I cant figure it out. It fixed all by itself yesterday...please help.

Hi Atkrei, I might suggest that you attempt a
trace route
to see the health of the connection. Although the trace route won't acutally fix any connection issues, it will help you figure out where the issue is occurring. The instructions on that page will help you read the trace route itself, and you're welcome to report your results here so that I can check them out as well.

To further follow up on the analysis part, if the timeouts (indicated by ***** or something similar, such as massive amounts of latency spikes) are within the first few lines, it's probably an issue on your end - try to power cycle your router if this is the case. If it times out after numerous lines, it's likely that the problem isn't just you (i.e. servers are down for maintenance). If it's in the middle (such as within about 10 lines usually), you MAY want to contact your ISP because chances are it's there's something wrong on the ISP side.
