What Are The Pros and Cons for each Shaman Specialization?

I know there is Elemental (damage), Enhancement (damage) and Restoration (healing) but I'd like to know the pros and cons for each particular spec so I have an idea of what I may want to choose. Also, do you get the wolf transformation spell regardless of which one you use? Is that a spell you learn (at level 15, right?) no matter what spec you chose at lvl 10? and is it lvl 15 or 20 you can do dungeons (that's a bit random but I forget).... I've been playing a lvl 80 human hunter forever so I'm rather clueless when it comes to the other classes. Please help, be respectful and thanks =]

Elemental is a ranged caster, Enhancement is melee DPS and as you noted Resto is healing. I find Enhancement fun as when questing you drop Searing Totem, pull with Lightning Bolt and then whackem up close and you have a healing spell to help you out. It's like getting a bit of everything. Ghost Wolf is available to all Shaman at level 15 yes and at 15 you have access to Dungeon Finder.

Ah ok, thanks. Which is better (ele vs. ench) for solo questing? I like to levl up easier and get up high before I become too concerned w/ PvP or Raids. Which was deals more damage or would be easier to understand for someone like me who is so used to being a hunter? sorry me and my many questions!

I would say Elemental is more simplistic. There is really only one mechanic you will need to learn to use and that's just Fulmination but that won't make much difference at low levels and it is very simple. Other than that, it is just keeping flame shock up, lava burst on cd, and spamming lightning bolt in between.
Enhancement is also a very good choice because you never actually have to stop and heal, they are instant. I was referred to the spec as an elemental blender that never stops running. Only problem is that the spec feels clunky anymore and it is more complicated than it really should be, in my opinion; which is sad since enhancement has been my favorite spec in the game for 5 years and now I can't even play it...

Also remember OP, that enhancement is going to be built more like a rogue or warrior in terms of gearing. Elemental, as a caster, is a lot less complex in terms of gearing at lower levels. once you get into the higher stuff, then it all becomes more complex but with leveling if it has more INT and is mail... it's probably the right choice. :)

What are the good websites for teaching about the healing game in general (or specific to the Shaman)?
Here ya go. I prefer this site
over something like
Elitist Jerks
, only because I try to avoid all the min/max theorycrafting that sucks all the fun out the game for me. EJ's site provides great information for hardcore players, unfortunately it reads like an instruction manual for an electronic product.
Noxxic gives you the general basics for abilities and priorities (Healing doesn't follow a standard rotation like DPS), as well as suggestions for optimal gems, enchants, talents, glyphs, reforging, and stat priorities, without having to filter through all the technical mumbo-jumbo. Just check the links on the top left.

I wouldnt even agree with this, Noxxic is a baseline for people who literally have no idea. However it gives some pretty bad information sometimes. Specifically stat priorities and the use of lightning bolt are correct in some situations, but thats the great thing about Enhance... everything changes and you need to know how and why it changes.
There are times when crit is your best stat, times when haste is better, times when mastery is better. You need to be able to tell the difference. And only stating to LB @ 5 stacks makes me cringe everytime i see it.
edit: Didnt mean to turn it into an Enhance debate... muh bad!

Perhaps optimal was a poor choice of word, but I was giving what the OP asked for. He doesn't even know what shaman can do; why confuse him with the min/max world of hardcore raiding?

just meant to say be careful where and what you use. Not everything on the interwebs is factual, contrary to popular belief :)

Haha! Well said (although I love watching fresh theorycrafting unravel after some new patch notes get released).
