If you want to post suggestions that will mean something, i advice you to use official wow forums for that.
Also day long battlegrounds may have fit into vanilla experience of wow, but they certainly arent now (with the major casualisation of the game).

I agree in that I miss the old BG expereience. Making a battleground last a few hours isnt the answer though. Thats why WSG now gives flag carrier buffs/debuffs. Blizzard knows it kills the casual player expereince if you get stuck in a BG for all day.
Having said that I agree whole heartedly that the guards and bosses within AV in particular need to be scaled up. Figure all faction citys have had guards and bosses continually scaled it is suprising that this is not the case with AV by the braket increase.
Making a
battleground
last a few hours is indeed not the right choice. Like it or not, battlegrounds are not what they used to be. The original AV would not fit within the paradigm of random battlegrounds we currently have, and would definitely never fit among rated battlegrounds.
I wholeheartedly miss the old AV. Battles that could last anywhere from hours to day was interesting. Strategic planning and working towards goals like summoning the lords gave a sense of accomplishment. And having a battle that felt
real
-- in the sense that it wasn't a race to points but a drawn-out battle that grew slowly over time, often with no decisive winner until late on -- gave us a uniquely epic passtime. If I could ask for anything it would be to have that back. But asking for AV the
battleground
to be reverted to its original design is simply not going to happen. It just doesn't fit in the paradigm of WoW at all, and hasn't in years.
If you want to ask for anything, ask for something that's not a battleground. Ask them to give us a new form of PvP -- separate from (R)BGs and arena -- where this paradigm could fit. A separate queue system where players
choose
to partake in a large-scale, drawn-out battle following a different scheme of accomplishment and reward than RBGs and arenas. It can be implemented well without disturbing the current PvP ecosystem.
Implementing it as anything else isn't going to work. Paradigm shifts are not popular with developers because they're very risky, and they're less popular with players because many enjoy the game the way it is. For example, the prospect of having quick random BG queues interrupted by being thrown into a drawn-out game is not appealing to the vast majority of players. Those that
do
like it may feel it lacks potential because it's integrated into a system it doesn't quite fit. Consider that the next obvious step to improve a popular BG is to make it available as an RBG. This wouldn't work for a BG that can last hours or days, and the prospect that a great design will never be able to see its full potential will disenchant players and developers alike. Furthermore, adding exceptions to bandaid these issues (like adding a 3rd downvote so people don't need to queue for it, or tweaking it to make it RBG-appropriate) is just that: a bandaid fix. That's philosophically the wrong approach in a MMO with the scope of WoW, especially one that strives so hard to maintain traction and ensure a growing future.
If the original AV comes back, it can only happen in another form. But I really hope that other form eventually comes. (On that note, the little I've read about The Elder Scrolls Online suggests they're hinging much of their PvP upon a similar paradigm of large-scale epic battles. This could very well give the WoW team incentive to expand the scope of their PvP to compete -- eventually, and likely only after they've seen how it played out for TESO. After all, they've hinted at the possibility of an RTS/DOTA-type battleground to cater to the growing popularity of League of Legends. And I'm happy to see them openly considering venturing into broader horizons to give us their own twist on tried-and-true gameplay.)
