If I would use a macro like:
#showtooltip Heroic Strike
/cast Shield Barrier
/cast Heroic Strike
I think this should work, I'm going to test it out for myself.
I don't have 20 rage for the shield barrier itself, which would altogether cancel the macro
I don't see this being an issue, in fact if I was low on rage I would be spamming to get rage and hitting this macro would be a low priority, let alone a free heroic strike.
So, any thoughts/suggestions?
One thought I have is what happens when you have over 90 rage?
When ultimatum is up: You will cast a full shield barrier and a free heroic strike, coolies
but when it isn't you will cast heroic strike as well, so you have 5sec to get rage for your next shield barrier, I know my shield barriers get popped before that often enough...I would want the 30 rage from heroic strike to cast another shield barrier asap...
Meh, don't mind the above, I guess if I was worried about casting shield barrier asap I'd cast it at 60 rage not 90, and if generating it so fast I miss hitting shield barrier before I get over 90 then I should be fine.
(glyph of endless rage gives you a 120 rage pool, if you were saving rage for a fast casting hard damage part of a fight you couldn't use this macro)
A good alternative could be to make heroic strike the shift modified key on your shield barrier, wouldn't press it accidentally then :P

, yes, that macro should work. If you don't have the rage, it won't do anything. I wasn't aware of a proc to get a free Heroic Strike. Then again, I very rarely tank as a Prot Warrior and even then I rarely pay attention seeing as Heroics are fairly faceroll, even with low gear.
This reminds me of the Slam! macro I used to use back when Slam was apart of Fury when Blood Surge would proc. I'd add /stopcast into the line under /cast Slam just so it wouldn't hardcast Slam without the Slam! proc.
I suggest you use an addon called '
Bindpad
'. It's like a combination of keybinding and macros. You can make a macro as simple as putting on your fishing gear and casting Fishing, then bind it to any key you'd like, or make it as complex as a multi-ability popping macro. I find it infinitely useful considering how many abilities there are, even after they "nerfed" the amount by making a lot of them passives or removing them all together.
