Tier One Discussion here.
Since talks wound down in the prior thread it seemed like a good idea to move things ahead. As per the original thread:
- Current talent choice
- Reasoning behind your choice
- Your current focus between PvP/PvE/Both
Feel free to complain or propose talent replacements you'd like to see, although I think the thread will be more beneficial if we focus on what we have and what we can do with it.

Assasination rogue is me.
I haven't tried
Deadly Throw yet, but I may for PvP at some point. I don't know where I'll put it so I can reach it, though, probably need to make a macro so I can ctrl + something to get it.
Anyway, my Rogue mainly PvPs in BGs, where this is defintitely situationally useful (druid flag carriers, I'm looking at you). Still, it really only works if you already have combo points on the target, so without something like
Premeditation or
Shuriken Toss, you may find it impossible to use a lot of the time. And I don't have any of those, of course.
Nerve Strike is my current choice, and it was for levelling too. In leveling, I found that once I had SnD up, I could go from mob to mob to mob to mob with CS + Muti = Rupture, Muti x1 or x2 = Envenom, and then build up as many combo points as possible for Recuperate. Some mobs had a lot of hp and needed a different approach (mogu in Krasarang Wilds, for example), but generally this kept me moving forward with no downtime. But I did (and do) also use the Cheap Shot
glyph.
I had plenty of buttons to press that did much the same as Combat Readiness (I had the
lilypad for
Growl) or
healed me if things got tough, so I didn't want another. I think I died 5 times from 85 to 90, 4 of those to the Sha of Despair. The last one was getting ganked.
My combat role currently mostly revolves around putting pressure on flag carriers or healers or peeling people off flag carriers and healers. For this,
Combat Readiness does little good, so I don't use it. I have it on a lvl 40 sub rogue who sometimes needs all the 'I'm not gonna die now'-buttons when I get ganged up on by mobs and don't want to Vanish just yet.
I can imagine it's a great thing to have in many PvP situations if you're supposed to be a target and take it. But I find that my
Evasion is usually off CD when I want it, so why add another button that does much the same?
What about yourself, AY?
