Pointless Subtlety, maybe. Not all specs take openers as far as sub, though. AkimboYojimbo certainly opened my eyes in this thread:

Bottom right corner of your character page is a sideways arrow, when you click on that detailed numbers appear for your character. Top of the list is general, and it lists "Speed: " 100% is everyone's baseline run speed, 200% is everyone's baseline ground mount speed.
Burst of Speed doesn't stack with
Sprint, both of which will bump you to 170% (unless you have sprint glyph which gives you 200% when using sprint).
Nightstalker stacks with sprint and burst of speed, and all these numbers are before you take into account guild perks and other movement bonuses.
As far as I know, the movement speed penalty was taken out a while ago, back in Wrath. Shadow focus essentially makes you faster while stealthed than unstealthed, which can be a huge advantage for PvP. It's really your choice though.
About this...according to
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/patch-notes/4-1-0 it was during Cataclysm.
- Stealth base cooldown has been reduced to 6 seconds, down from 10, and the movement penalty from being in Stealth has been removed.
This discussion has no point. Subterfuge >>>>>> all other tier 1 talents.
Subterfuge is like mini 3 second shadow dance (without reduced costs) on every opener.
To correct this generalization, for combat at least, ambush costs 60 energy, RvS and SS costs 40 energy each.
If you took the Subterfuge talent, it would cost you 120 energy for 4 CP if you did 2x Ambush.
If you took the Shadow Focus talent, it would cost you 0 energy for 1x Ambush, followed by 1x RvS and then 1x SS which has a 20% chance of procing an extra CP. Which comes down to 80 energy for 4.2 CP.
