Any solo MMORPGs and decent single-player rpgs?

I've never really been a strong team player when it comes to multiplayer games and I'm also really crap at playing against other players (pvp). Most of the time I much prefer playing solo, it's comfortable, no keeping up with other players, I play games at my own pace.
So does anyone know of any MMORPGs that is almost all solo content, while still showing off my cool stuff that I have obtained and achievements to other players?
Or is there any decent modern single-player RPGs that enables me to make a group of 4-6 characters right from the start and do all the game with my team.
Before I played WoW, I played Runescape which was mostly a nice solo mmorpg but it has changed considerably though the years that I played WoW and I don't want to play it anymore. WoW itself has some good solo play, but I hit a brick wall when I want to do dungeons and raids because I require the help of other players and I have to be social with them if I want to progess.

I would suggest never playing a MMO ever again. The point to MMOs is not solo play so just go stick with your single player RPGs.

Nah, I played Dragon Age Origins, the item system was bad and I was forced to play with the game's story characters, not my own. Mobs and chests wouldn't spawn back after you cleared a dungeon and after you completed the game there was not much else you could do. The envrioments were bland and had that genereic medieval feel.
And when I mean I want to play a solo MMORPG, I like to know that other players are in the same game world as me, sometimes I find there is not much point in doing a hard challenge or obtaining an awesome item and not being able to show it off to other people.
People have said that Lord of the rings online is good a solo mmorpg, so I'm looking into it. Another good solo rpg I played was Final Fantasy 12, you couldn't create your own characters, but I found it fun going into a new colourful, imaginative area and mindlessy kill lots of mobs. :D

But if you like that type of thing, then FF11 or 14 would be a better choice. WoW itself can easily be a solo game as well.

Dont think 11 or 14 are very solo friendly, not to mention 14 is complete crap Square needs to stick with single-player games and accept defeat in the MMO department. And yeah if youre still considering WoW roll a Blood DK and enjoy being able to solo almost anything that isnt lvl85 raids and 85 heroics. Although some skilled Blood DKs can solo a few 85 heroic bosses.

I'll second the fact that Final Fantasy 11 (and most likely 14) are NOT solo friendly.
I know when I played, you could probably get to about level 8-10 or so, but once you hit the point you stopped getting decent XP from the areas right outside of town, you're set to go and be forced to team up (unless you run some specific class choices, which would be doable but painfully slow).
As for DDO: I love the game, but even it starts to run out of steam after about 15-20 levels... A lot of the quests like to pile up various melee mobs with magic/ranged snipers picking you off.
You can always do the random dungeon finder if you're looking for dungeons without having to be sociable... simply drop a "hello" in the beginning, don't be an a-hole in general, and you don't even need to say "goodbye" at the end, just drop group and requeue.
Otherwise, I think the OP would probably be better off with plain ol' RPGs like Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale, and games like that... While you can't up and create your own characters (well, maybe if you make your own mod you could), you get a good variety of NPCs to pick from, and you can always drop some console commands and bully your way past any crap that gets in your way.

Mass Effect, Fallout, and Mass Effect. And maybe Fallout.
And Oblivion. Dated, but still fun.
Boarderlands was fun too.

I know Blood DKs are good at soloing things, but theres something I dont like about DKs...
The only game I've ever played that allows you to create and customize your own team is the Icewind Dale series. It's 11 years old, so not modern by any means. They were great games though.
Yep, I have heard of Icewind Dale 1 and 2, but they are quite old and I'm not much of a fan of the D&D style of gameplay. I'm still on the lookout for similar party-based modern rpgs.
Mass Effect, Fallout, and Mass Effect. And maybe Fallout.
I'm actually playing Mass Effect 2, it's an ok game, just wish I could create my own team of characters rather than use the game's default characters. And I don't like the setting of the Fallout series.
And Oblivion. Dated, but still fun.
Boarderlands was fun too.
Played Oblivion a few years ago, it was fun in its own way.
Played Borderlands with my sister, but very boring playing solo.
WoW has all the right elements for my dream game, it's just a shame it's a MMORPG. I'd love to able to create 25 WoW characters and do raids and dungeons with them, I would manually control my main character, while the other 4, 9 or 24 would be computer controlled, that would be epic and I would have so much fun with my team! :)

Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. Eventually you get to about 8 characters, (I think) that you can cycle through for battles. It's really fun and has good graphics.
