Removing enchant?
Return to board index
Post by

Hi. ive managed to enchant my heirloom shoulders with 18 stamina. and i didnt really consider having to use them again as it was my last char spot i was finishing off
Now the time has come where ive decided to remove one 80 ill never play in favour of leveling a new. and this enchant prevents me from using my shoulders till i reach lvl 70. which is kinda a bummer. so was wondering if any of you know a way to get rid of this enchant or replace it with something.
Solved it myself. turns out i could use the item anyways. just the enchat isnt "activated". wierd couse it wouldnt get equiped first time i tryed..

You could always try overwriting it with
Medium Armor Kit
, for instance.

The problem was that there is no availlabe enchant for shoulders that is usable for lvl 1 and does not make the item soulbound. Hence, the replacement advice is not usefull.

"Medium Armor Kit" cannot be applied to *shoulder armor* not even heirloom shoulders. ;-)
Oh blasted. My apologies for providing wrong information. I was certain that those worked on shoulders as well. :/

This was fixed fairly quickly, and currently there are no shoulder enchants that can be applied to heirlooms (possible exception of inscription enchants, BUT: those will only work if the character has the required proficiency in inscription).
It's been several months ago, but my Shaman used to be an Scribe, and I was able to put the Inscription enchants on my heirloom shoulders as soon as I learned them. Not sure if that's still true, but for anyone interested in leveling a Scribe, it is a definite benefit.

Unfortunately it's only Heavy Knothide and up that will go on your shoulders.
Heirlooms never become soulbound.
True, and it's because of that reason that Heirlooms are an invalid target for any enchant that makes an item soulbound.
I'm not completely sure, but I think even those Arcanums have a level requirement of 50, now.

As I understand it, you can enchant heirloom shoulders with any enchant you can get your hands on, but as the OP mentioned, they all have a level requirement now, so the enchant doesn't kick in until your character reaches that level.
Enchant heirloom with
Greater Inscription of the Storm
? Go for it! but the enchant won't actually add any stats until the toon reaches 80.
So going by
this list
the earliest heirloom shoulder enchant would be Argent Dawn resistance enchants at level 50 followed by the Zandalar enchants at 55. Those were the sweet spot for me. I put
Zandalar Signet of Mojo
on my
Exquisite Sunderseer Mantle
and have leveled 3 toons now with them; the extra spellpower doesn't kick in til 55, but that gets me to 80 just fine.

Enchants won't stop you from using it on your shoulders. The enchant simply will be inactive until you reach the required level.

And you're sure the person didn't figure it out himself after over a year?
