What's the best healing class?

Hi,
I want my next alt to be a Healer (LFD) and also be reasonably quick on leveling.
I'm thinking of a Resto Shaman, but would Holy Priest or Resto Druid make a better healer overall?
Thanks.

The best player is the best healer. All three of those are generally good multi-target healers, but if you do go Priest, go Disc until you get geared up. Otherwise you won't know what a full mana bar is.

If you want to be able to solo (without dualspec) effectively as well, a holy or disc priest would be the way to go I believe. Holy has healing talents that also empower the smite, holy fire and holy nova spells for instance. Check out the Energizer leveling guide on the priest forums. :-)
And @ the topic: Really one of those things where you can say they're all good at different things and really mean it. For instance, paladins are (at least up until Cata) the best tank healers, but they don't have the kind of AoE healing in their arsenal that the other ones do. (again until Cata :-P)

Personally, I've fallen in love with shaman healing.
You've got all your totems at your disposal, plus chain heal, direct heals, and an instant heal that applies a HoT (not even taking into account earthliving weapon).

Actually, that was the sort of thing I was looking for. A recommendation for a Resto Shaman is nice.
Cheers.

Also nice way to avoid the question.
How do you figure?
The common knowledge of there not being a "best" healer was already said, so I just thought I'd share my experience. Pwntiff gave the most logistical answer possible, at this point it's all about seeing which class would facilitate lankybrit's playstyle.

@zdouse - you may be strictly logically correct, but I appreciate all the advice given. So please don't hate.
Cheers.

My experiences have been healing Heroics on a Druid and healing LFD on a Priest while leveling, but I've lead raids, both as DPS and tank, with every healer. There were fights we preferred a certain healer, but we managed to do those fights without because our healers were good players.
When someone posts asking for a good healer class, they want advice. One's opinion and personal preference are advice. I get asked questions day in and day out at my job where I answer not with the literal answer to the question, but the answer to the question they wanted. Only one person has called me out on it with "That's what I meant," which is easily countered with "That's why I answered that way."

I guess the answer I was fearing most would have been - Don't go Resto Shaman because it pales in comparison to ........ Seeing as no one has said that, I'll probably try a Resto Shaman and see how it goes. I've yet to roll a Priest, Druid, or Rogue, so I'll get to those later. I have a Mage, Paladin, Warrior, and Hunter at 80, and a Warlock at 54. I'm looking to now start a healer.
Thanks for all the responses.
Cheers.

I didn't start healing on my shaman until 80, but love the class and spec. Very versatile, plus, it's the healing style that Blizzard is using as the model for Cata healing. Bonus points there.
I'm (slowly) leveling an holy priest for kicks, and I really enjoy the way it works up to my present level range of 50-ish. Very toolboxy, where there seems to be a spell for just about any situation.

That's the problem with the hybrid healers... you don't get your "fun" spells until almost TBC level. :-(

Druid healing is easiest, you just use HoTs.
Paladin healing is 1 button, Holy Light, and no that is not an exaggeration.
Shaman healing is the most fun in my opinion, alot of tools and depth.
However, all healing classes are getting a lot of changes in cataclysm, so read up on those and it may influence your decision.
