What makes a good raid leader ?

Most raids that I've done have been pugs. The guild I'm in hardly ever raids (I might need to move i think ! ) anyway, I've been in some great pugs and some really bad ones as well, also ran a few myself. Here are my top tip for leading a raid.
1. Know the fights - Raid leader should know the fights and how they work and how the players should tackle each one. Don't leave it down to luck as some have done.
2. Know you players / Team - Get the right mix for the fight, this doesnt really apply to some fights, as long as you have the right tanks and healers. But all melee dps or all ranged dps could leave you wanting.
3. Talk to the raid (this for me is the most important one) - Let them know what's going on. What the loot rules are (before the loot drops). Who the MT and OT is. What the healers are doing. How the fight works for those that don't know etc.
4. Dont be afraid to make tough decisions - If you pick up some players that are not performing or under equiped then replace them, it might not be all to nice thing but if your doing a VoA 10 for example you can't carry low dps.
5. Move at a good speed. - Nothing worse than sitting in a pug waiting for things to happen for mins on end. again this comes down some what to communication - if there's a delay let people know why, this way you wont loose half your ppls cos they've had enough.
If anyone else has some suggestions on what makes a good raid leader / raid please feel free to add.

Your rules 3 and 5 are opposites. It will depend on the raid, raid goals and raiders.
Being a good raid leader is providing the raid with what it needs.
